Roeselare Welcomes 39 Councillors as Mayor Kris Declercq and Rania Fahi Are Sworn In

Roeselare (Eurotoday): Last night on 3rd December, Roeselare’s 39 municipal councillors were sworn in, with Mayor Kris Declercq continuing since 2016. 21-year-old Rania Fahi from the Vooruit party took her oath for the first time. The unchanged leadership will focus on modernization and community development.

Last night on 3rd December, the 39 newly elected municipal councillors of Roeselare were sworn in, starting a new term for the city. Mayor Kris Declercq from the CD&V party took his oath and will continue as mayor, a position he has held since 2016. The ceremony showed that there would be no major changes in the city’s leadership, as the aldermen also remained the same. This stability allows the administration to continue its current projects without interruption.

Eleven elected officials, including 21-year-old Rania Fahi from the Vooruit party, took their oath for the first time. Rania expressed excitement about starting her role, saying it feels like the first day of school. The special committee for social services also took their oaths, and police council members were elected. Around 150 friends and family watched the ceremony on a large screen in the city hall. Former alderman Griet Coppé, who retired four years ago, attended to support her son Thomas, a municipal councillor and praised the beauty of the city hall.
