Mayor Kris Declercq from the CD&V party took his oath and will continue as mayor, a position he has held since 2016. The ceremony showed that there would be no major changes in the city’s leadership, as the aldermen also remained the same. Former alderman Griet Coppé, who retired four years ago, attended to support her son Thomas, a municipal councillor and praised the beauty of the city hall.
