VINCI Secures River Infrastructure Construction Project

Nanterre, 18 March 2026

VINCI Awarded Contract for River Infrastructure in France

  • Construction of two new lock gates to enhance river traffic on the Rhône
  • Collaboration between VINCI Construction and VINCI Energies
  • €68 million contract

Compagnie Nationale du Rhône has chosen a consortium led by VINCI Construction, including VINCI Energies, to add a second set of downstream gates at the Bollène and Châteauneuf-du-Rhône locks in south-east France.

The €68 million project starts in March 2026 and will last five years, with VINCI’s share valued at €45 million. These enhancements aim to increase the safety and availability of the infrastructure, promoting low-carbon river transport on the Rhône.

The project demands combined expertise in civil, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical engineering from local teams. The work will be complex, as existing systems and nearby roads remain operational.

This initiative reinforces VINCI Construction’s expertise in river works and VINCI Energies’ capability in secure, efficient electrical and control systems.

Consortium: Subsidiaries of VINCI Construction (Campenon Bernard Centre-Est (lead), GTM Sud, Océlian), a company under Actemium (VINCI Energies brand for industry), and Baudin Chateauneuf.

About VINCI:
VINCI is a leader in concessions, energy solutions, and construction, employing 294,000 people in over 120 countries. We design, finance, build, and operate infrastructure that enhances daily life and mobility. Committed to environmental and social responsibility, VINCI creates long-term value for customers, shareholders, employees, partners, and society. www.vinci.com

So, 68 million for some fancy lock gates, eh? Must be nice to have pocket change for a river makeover while the rest of us are still trying to figure out how to park our cars! 😂💰

What a brilliant idea—a €68 million investment just to ensure the river doesn’t get too crowded. Because, you know, nothing screams progress like a new lock gate for the Rhône! 💸🚧

More locks on the Rhône? Brilliant! Because nothing says “cutting-edge infrastructure” like a €68 million project to keep boats from bumping into each other. 🛥️💸

  4. Looks like VINCI is really going all out to make the Rhône the hottest river in town – because who wouldn’t want to spend €68 million on lock gates? 😂 Next thing you know, they’ll be serving gourmet coffee at the locks! ☕️

Looks like VINCI’s about to make a splash with those new lock gates—because who doesn’t love a bit of €68 million worth of plumbing in the middle of nowhere? 💧💸 Let’s just hope the Rhône doesn’t get too jealous of all this attention! 😂

Looks like VINCI is ready to make the Rhône a bit more… navigable? €68 million for two lock gates, I suppose that’s cheaper than a yacht for the weekend! 🚤💸

Looks like VINCI is diving into the river business now – just what we needed, more locks to keep us on our toes! €68 million for some gates, eh? Hope they come with a free tour guide! 😂💰

Looks like VINCI’s about to turn the Rhône into a whole new ‘lock’ and load experience! €68 million? I hope they’ve ordered a few extra gates, just in case the river gets feisty! 😏💸

Just what we need, more gates on the Rhône—because who doesn’t love a €68 million traffic jam? 🚧💸 Cheers to making rivers even more *exciting*!

Just what we need—more lock gates on the Rhône! Because who doesn’t love a good five-year wait for a €68 million enhancement that’ll mostly be about dodging traffic while they work? 🤷‍♂️💰

Oh, fantastic, just what we needed—a €68 million makeover for some gates on the Rhône! I can hardly contain my excitement for the “enhanced river traffic,” because who doesn’t love a bit of extra bureaucracy mixed with their waterway adventures? 😂🚢

Nice to see we’re investing €68 million to make sure our river traffic is as smooth as a French wine—because who wouldn’t want to wait five years for a couple of fancy gates? 🍷🚧

Looks like VINCI’s about to have their hands full with a €68 million game of “let’s keep the river flowing and the traffic rolling” — who knew locks could be such a delightful headache? 🚧💰

Oh great, just what we needed—more fancy gates to keep the river traffic as smooth as a French wine! 🍷 Can’t wait to see how many years this €68 million masterpiece will take before we can even get a boat through!

Looks like VINCI is about to make the Rhône the next Venice, but without the gondolas and with a touch more bureaucracy. €68 million later, let’s hope the only thing getting stuck in those gates is a few tourist boats! 😏✌️

Oh great, nothing like a €68 million project to build some fancy gates on the Rhône – just what we needed to keep the river traffic as exciting as watching paint dry. 😏💰
