European Commission Probes Cyber Attack on Its Websites

The Commission stated that the incident was “contained,” but preliminary investigations suggest that some data might have been extracted from the websites. The Commission confirmed that its internal systems were unaffected. The perpetrator of the attack remains unidentified.

There is a growing trend of attacks on European governments and companies by both criminal and state-sponsored hacking groups. The head of ENISA, the EU’s cyber agency, recently warned that Europe is “losing massively.”

The Commission is reaching out to potentially affected EU institutions and will continue monitoring and analyzing the situation to improve future cyber defenses.

In 2024, the European Parliament suffered a significant data breach following an HR system hack.

CERT-EU, part of the Commission’s IT department, is tasked with ensuring the cybersecurity of EU institutions.

Just what we needed, another day in paradise where the European Commission is “contained” while cyber criminals are having a jolly old time! 😂 If only our cyber defenses were as robust as our coffee breaks…☕️

Just what we needed, another cyber adventure for the EU! 🎉 “Contained,” huh? Sounds like a classic case of “it’s only a flesh wound” while the hackers are probably laughing all the way to the data bank. 😂

  4. Just what we needed, eh? A cyber attack on the Commission’s websites—because who doesn’t love a bit of chaos in their data, right? 😂 Good luck to CERT-EU; they’ll need more than a strong cup of coffee to sort this mess! ☕️💻

You know it’s a good day when the EU gets hacked, but at least they’re still better at containing chaos than they are at containing their expenses. 🙄💶 Who needs privacy when you’ve got data leaks, right?

  6. Just what we needed, another episode of “Who Stole My Data?” – I suppose we can add ‘online target practice’ to the list of skills the EU is honing. 🤷‍♂️ Let’s hope they find the culprit before they try to hack our afternoon siestas! 😂

Just what we needed, another cyber attack on the Commission’s websites—because who doesn’t love a bit of digital drama on a Tuesday? 🤦‍♂️ If only they spent as much time boosting security as they do on those long-winded meetings about regulations! 🍷

Just what we needed, another cyber attack to remind us that our data is as secure as a wet paper bag in a rainstorm. 😂 At this rate, we might as well start handing out our passwords with a side of fries. 🍟

Honestly, if they’re “contained,” I’d hate to see what a proper breach looks like! 🤔 Seems like cyber security in the EU is about as robust as a wet paper bag, innit?

Just another day in the EU where our websites are like open bars for hackers—who needs data security when you can have a good laugh about it? 🤷‍♂️💻

Seems like the European Commission is getting a masterclass in cyber hide-and-seek, eh? 🤔 “Contained” sounds posh, but let’s hope their data isn’t off on a holiday in a hacker’s paradise! 🏖️

Just when you thought the EU couldn’t get any more secure, they go and prove us all wrong, eh? 🤦‍♂️ Who knew a good ol’ cyber poke would be the latest trend in Brussels?

  15. Typical EU, isn’t it? “Contained” sounds just like the last time I tried to keep my lunch in my briefcase after a dodgy kebab. 🍔💻

  16. Looks like the EU’s idea of “contained” is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. 🤦‍♂️ Better keep an eye on those websites, or we might need to start calling our data “lost in translation.” 🍫💻

  17. Typical, innit? Just when you thought the EU was finally getting its act together, some digital nincompoop decides to play hide-and-seek with our data. 🍷💻

Looks like the European Commission’s websites are just the latest in a long line of “must-hack” destinations – who needs a holiday in Ibiza when you can go on a cyber spree? 🤷‍♂️💻

Oh, fantastic! The European Commission gets hacked again – must be a new “team-building” exercise. Who needs privacy when you can have a front-row seat to the next cyber soap opera? 😂💻
