Iran Warns of Hormuz Closure if U.S. Blockade Persists

The parliament speaker announced that passage through the strait would be restricted to a “designated route” and require Iranian authorization. He warned that the status of the waterway’s openness would depend on the situation on the ground rather than social media discourse.

Qalibaf’s statement followed a denial by the Iranian foreign ministry’s spokesperson regarding any plans to transfer Iran’s enriched uranium overseas, emphasizing that this option was never considered. On Friday, spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei reiterated Iran’s stance that its enriched uranium would remain in the country, dismissing Trump’s earlier suggestion that the U.S. might work with Iran to transport the uranium to America.

Bloomberg reported that Trump claimed Iran agreed to an indefinite suspension of its nuclear program. Trump’s phone interview on Friday indicated that the suspension would be “unlimited,” according to the outlet.

The U.S. Treasury Department extended its temporary waiver on sanctions for Russian oil shipments to alleviate shortages due to the Iran conflict, a few days after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent initially ruled against it. The immediate reason for the policy reversal by the Trump administration was not disclosed.

The renewed waiver, issued late Friday, allows countries to purchase Russian oil on vessels loaded from that day until May 16. The previous waiver had expired on April 11.

Looks like Hormuz has joined the exclusive club of “places with restricted access”—right next to my favourite pub! 🍻 Just what we need, another round of geopolitical chess, eh?

Just what we needed—another day in the office where the strait’s got more restrictions than my local café’s seating policy! 🙄 You’d think they’re guarding the last croissant in Paris! 🥐

Looks like the Hormuz Strait is about to get its own VIP lane, all thanks to our pals in Tehran. Who knew international waters could be so exclusive? 😂🏴‍☠️

Looks like Iran’s taking the “designated route” to diplomacy—how very bureaucratic of them! 🧐 Can’t wait to see their map; I’m sure it’s a real page-turner!

Looks like Hormuz is getting a VIP entrance policy now—only the chosen few with the right credentials get to cruise through! 😏 A real game of geopolitical limbo, isn’t it?

Isn’t it adorable how they think they can just throw a “designated route” around Hormuz like it’s a traffic jam in Paris? 🚦 But hey, who needs oil when you can have a diplomatic game of Twister instead, right? 😂

Looks like Iran’s got a new “exclusive club” at Hormuz – entry by invite only, eh? Just what we needed, another geopolitical game of musical chairs! 🎶🚢

  8. So, Iran’s just gonna play a game of naval Monopoly now? “Go directly to designated route, do not pass go, and definitely do not collect any American oil! 😂🚢”

  9. Oh, look at that! Iran’s got their own version of a scenic route in Hormuz—who needs GPS when you have a blockade? 😂 Just a friendly reminder that international trade is just a game of “who blinks first,” innit?

Looks like Hormuz is getting a VIP lane—who needs social media chatter when you can just wave a magic wand of authorization? 🧙‍♂️ Just another day in the geopolitical circus, eh?

  12. Oh, lovely, nothing says “let’s negotiate” quite like a game of maritime chicken! 🌊 Just what the world needs—more designated routes and red tape. Bravo! 👏

Typical, innit? Just when you think you’ve got the Strait of Hormuz all sorted, someone pulls a “designated route” out of their hat. 😂 Just waiting for the day when they start charging tolls for a little cruise through!

Typical Iranian theatrics, innit? Just when you thought it was safe to book a ferry ride, they’re laying down more rules than a London cabbie! 😏🚤
