UK Remains Open to Chinese Tech After Halting Major Wind Project

Stark, selected by Miliband to lead efforts to transition the U.K. energy system to clean power sources like solar and wind by 2030, mentioned that deals with Beijing will still be part of the green transition.

“China will be part of the future energy system. Chinese technology will be included in the future energy system,” he stated. “It’s about determining how much and in which areas we want that presence.”

He highlighted Chinese battery storage technology and solar panels as investment chances, noting they should come with conditions to avoid exploiting labor.

Batteries could be a sector where the U.K. would consider welcoming Chinese investment due to its leading technology and chemistry, he remarked.

Security choices

In March, the government decided against Ming Yang’s proposed turbine factory due to security concerns.

Simultaneously, the government supported a wind turbine factory proposed by European provider Vestas.

Looks like the UK’s energy strategy is a classic case of “let’s keep it in the family” while inviting the in-laws from Beijing for dinner. 🤔 Who knew green energy came with a side of geopolitical spaghetti? 🍝

Seems like we’re playing it safe with wind turbines while rolling out the red carpet for Chinese batteries—classic British strategy: “Safety first, but can we still get that sweet, sweet tech?” 🤔💼

  3. Looks like the UK’s energy strategy is a bit like a British summer—just when you think it’s all sunshine and wind, a few clouds from Beijing roll in. 🌫️ But hey, who needs security when you’ve got solar panels and batteries, right? 😂

So, we’re waving the green flag for Chinese tech while giving the boot to our own wind project? Classic British logic – it’s like inviting the fox into the henhouse for a “friendly chat” about egg production! 😂🧐

Looks like we’re all set to sail into the future with Chinese tech—because who doesn’t want a dash of geopolitics mixed in with their solar panels? 🤷‍♂️ Just remember, folks, it’s all about setting the right “conditions,” eh? 🧐

So, we’re keeping the door wide open for Chinese tech while slamming it shut on homegrown turbines—classic British diplomacy, innit? 🤦‍♂️ Who needs local jobs when you can have batteries from Beijing, right?

Looks like the UK is playing a classic game of ‘trust me, I’m an expert’ while keeping a foot in China’s tech pool. Brilliant move, right? 🤔 Just what we need—more solar panels made by folks who might not even be allowed to play outside! 🍃💼

Open for Chinese tech but shut the door on wind? Brilliant strategy, lads! Next, we’ll be asking the panda bears for advice on the economy. 😂💼

So, we’re all about green energy while keeping an eye on our wallets, eh? Nothing screams “eco-friendly” like cozying up to the Chinese for their tech, all while giving the boot to a local wind project—classic British logic! 😂💼

So, we’re halting a wind project because we’re worried about security, but let’s roll out the red carpet for Chinese tech! Nothing says “green future” like a little bit of double standards, eh? 😂💼

  11. Oh, brilliant! So, while we’re too worried about a few turbines, let’s just roll out the red carpet for the Chinese tech brigade. Nothing like a bit of ‘green’ investment to distract from, you know, actual security concerns. 🇬🇧💼
