The SWIFTT platform enhances decision-making in addressing spruce bark beetle outbreaks, wildfires, and windthrow.
PARIS, FRANCE, April 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — SWIFTT is an advanced forest management tool utilizing Copernicus Sentinel satellite data and machine learning. It aids foresters in detecting tree health changes, mapping forest dieback, coordinating sanitary cuts, assessing windthrow damage, and identifying wildfire risks and impacts.
Through SWIFTT, foresters can register forest parcels and request threat analyses. Machine learning models routinely examine multispectral satellite images for signs of risks like spruce bark beetle, windthrow, and wildfires. Alerts with threat type, severity, and details on threatened tree volume and hectarage help foresters prioritize interventions.
SWIFTT features threat mapping and geolocation for on-field use. Its mobile app directs foresters to affected areas, facilitating efficient inspections. Foresters can upload field data, refining models for better future predictions. After confirmation, they can effectively manage dead wood removal or sanitary cuts to mitigate damage and protect forests.
Commercialization of SWIFTT will be handled by Timbtrack. ‘SWIFTT is scalable and collaborative, aiding foresters, managers, and authorities across Europe. It helps combat threats, preserve biodiversity, and maintain resilient forests,’ states Quentin d’Huart, CEO at Timbtrack.

The SWIFTT Project
This project is a collaboration involving AXA Climate (FR), Da Vinci Labs (FR), Equitable Earth (FR), Leibniz University Hannover (DE), Rigas Mezi (LV), Space Research Institute of Ukraine (UA), University of Bari Aldo Moro (IT), and Timbtrack (BE). They developed the SWIFTT platform and its web and mobile apps, analyzing satellite imagery, enhancing AI models, and gathering precise forest data sets.
‘Coordinating this project with such a dedicated consortium has been remarkable. We’ve developed a cutting-edge platform using Copernicus data and AI to provide forestry professionals with timely, actionable tools. Our collaboration’s success is evident, and I am confident this will enhance forest protection in Europe,’ says Ariane Kaploun, Head of Nature-based Solutions at AXA Climate and SWIFTT’s project coordinator.
The consortium received a competitive Horizon Europe grant under the ‘EGNSS & Copernicus applications fostering the European Green Deal’ topic, managed by EUSPA, totaling €2.8M from the EUSPA/European Commission between 2022 and 2026.

Finally, a fancy app to save our forests—because how else would we know the trees are in trouble without a satellite’s help? 🛰️🌲 Who knew that a bit of machine learning could replace good old-fashioned common sense? 😏 Seems like we finally found a way to have trees text us about their problems—who knew bark beetles could send alerts? 😂 Just what we needed, a high-tech app to tell us when our trees are feeling under the weather. Because, you know, the old “give it a good shake” method was simply too passé. 😂🌲 A brilliant move for our forests, isn’t it? Because nothing screams ‘eco-friendly’ like a bunch of satellites and algorithms barking orders at nature! 🌲👽 Just what we needed: a fancy app to tell us our forests are in trouble! Because nothing says “environmental crisis” like getting a notification while sipping espresso in a Paris café. 🍵🌲 Just what we needed, another fancy app to tell us that trees are in trouble—because who wouldn’t want to pay for a digital nudge to deal with their bark beetles? 😏💸 Another day, another high-tech solution to save our forests—because who needs good old-fashioned manual labor when you have satellites and machine learning, right? 🌳🚀 Just what we needed, another high-tech gadget to tell us trees aren’t feeling well. Next, they’ll be offering therapy sessions for the oaks! 🌳😂 Seems like the EU’s finally figured out how to send a satellite to do the job of a forester – next, they’ll have drones doing the coffee runs. 🍵🚁 Oh great, another fancy tech tool for forest management—because nothing screams “let’s save the planet” like a bunch of satellites and machine learning, right? 🌍💻 Just what we needed to make sure the trees don’t feel neglected! 😂 Looks like we’ve finally found a way to solve our forest issues with a fancy app – next up, perhaps a smartphone feature to chat with the trees? 🌳📱 Isn’t it just delightful how we’re using satellites to babysit our forests now? Next, we’ll have drones delivering coffee to the trees while they’re at it. ☕️🌲 Brilliant, another app to tell us our forests are in trouble—just what we needed! 🍃 Because who doesn’t love a little extra pressure while trying to save the world on a tight budget? 🙄 Look at that, a high-tech solution for forest management! Because, clearly, what we all needed was a fancy app to tell us when our trees were having a bad day. 🍃😂 In what seems like a throwback to the era of witch trials, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has criticized Eurovision, labeling it as “Satanism” after Bulgaria’s triumph at the 2026 Vienna Song Contest with Dara’s “Bangaranga.” Lavrov claimed the contest’s selection criteria align with “Satanism.”
