Suspicious Package Found at PM Bart De Wever’s Deurne Home

Deurne (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A suspicious package containing a car-washing glove, paint, a Christmas letter, and casino coins was found on Friday, Oct 3, 2025, at Prime Minister Bart De Wever’s Deurne home; police and Dovo are investigating.

As VRT News reported, a suspicious package was discovered on Friday evening, Oct 3, 2025, in the mailbox of Prime Minister Bart De Wever (N-VA) at his home in Deurne. Police were alerted around 6 p.m. about the unusual item.

“The package was found in the mailbox, and its contents raise questions,”

said police spokesperson Kim Bastiaens. 

An area was secured, and a safety perimeter was established. The Dovo bomb disposal team and forensic experts were called to the scene to assess the package. Cautious investigation by the authorities to determine if the package is harmful.

What did the suspicious package at PM Bart De Wever’s home contain?

Police are not revealing the full contents of the suspicious package found at Prime Minister Bart De Wever’s (N-VA) home in Deurne. According to sources, the package contained a car-washing glove, which held a can of paint. A letter with a Christmas-themed message was also discovered inside. In addition, several casino coins were reportedly found in the mailbox. 

Officials said the situation is under control.

“The bomb disposal service Dovo is currently dismantling the package. The prime minister’s house and the neighbouring homes did not need to be evacuated,”

said police spokesperson Kim Bastiaens. 

Belgium has seen several incidents involving suspicious packages sent to political figures. On January 15, 2025, a white powder letter was sent to Prime Minister Alexander De Croo in Brussels, and one aide had to be hospitalised. Then, on May 28, 2025, another suspicious letter was delivered to Prime Minister Bart De Wever in Brussels. No one was injured, and emergency services were called to examine the letter.
