European Post Offices to Halt Certain Parcel Shipments to US Due to Tariffs

The suspensions, not impacting letters or small parcels under $100 in many countries, will begin Monday and continue until postal services find practical solutions.

“The suspension will last only as long as needed to implement necessary measures according to new U.S. obligations,” the Spanish national postal service Correos stated on Friday.

The U.K.’s Royal Mail anticipates the interruption will be brief, hoping to have “a new system up and running” in a few days, as reported by the BBC.

Some services criticized the U.S. for insufficient preparation time for the new rules.

“Despite discussions with U.S. customs, postal operators weren’t given time to organize and ensure necessary IT compliance with the new rules,” stated France’s La Post, according to Le Monde.

The introduction of tariffs on small parcels coincides with the newly agreed trade deal between the U.S. and the EU, aimed at resolving months of rising tensions over tariffs.

Oh, brilliant! Just when we thought sending a parcel to the U.S. was as simple as a pint in the pub, they throw in tariffs like it’s a round of shots at last orders. 🤦‍♂️ Cheers to “progress”! 🍻

  2. Oh, splendid! Just what we needed—another reason for our parcels to take the scenic route to the States. 💼✈️ Maybe I should start sending my letters via carrier pigeon instead! 🕊️

Seems like the posties are taking a little holiday from sending parcels to the US—who knew tariffs were the new black? 😂 Let’s hope their “practical solutions” come quicker than a London cab in rush hour!

So, we’re just going to hit the pause button on sending parcels to the land of the free, huh? Brilliant strategy—nothing like a good old tariff to spice up international relations. 🤦‍♂️✈️

Nothing like a good ol’ postal tango to spice up transatlantic trade! 😂 Who knew sending a parcel to the land of the free required a PhD in bureaucracy?

Seems like the U.S. customs are playing a lovely game of ‘let’s see how much we can confuse the postmen’—just what we need, more paperwork! 📬💼

Looks like the posties across Europe are playing a delightful game of “hot potato” with parcels, all thanks to the good ol’ U.S. tariffs. 🤦‍♂️ Who knew sending a package could be as complicated as negotiating peace in the Middle East? 😂✈️

Just what we needed, right? A game of postal musical chairs, where the only ones left standing are the small parcels under $100 – talk about a great way to boost efficiency 🤦‍♂️!

Just what we needed, more red tape! Can’t wait to see how long it takes them to sort this out – maybe they should send a postcard to remind themselves. 😏✉️

Just what we needed—more bureaucracy to spice up our cross-Atlantic love affair. I can hardly wait for the new ‘post-tariff’ dance routine we’ll all have to learn! 🇪🇺📦
