Ukraine Fears Being Overlooked in U.S. Proposal to End Russia’s War

The American side is eager to resolve issues related to territory and security guarantees, according to a report by Axios on Sunday. However, POLITICO previously noted that Zelenskyy will make the final decision on territorial matters.

“The Americans want to finalize it completely, Ukrainians want to know what they will bring to Moscow,” an official stated.

Zelenskyy is not attending the talks, which the Ukrainian side is led by State Security Council Secretary Rustem Umerov. The U.S. delegation includes Witkoff, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law.

In official statements prior to the talks, both sides remained diplomatic. Rubio, heading the U.S. delegation, emphasized the important progress made in recent weeks, including discussions in Geneva the previous weekend.

“The end goal is obviously not just the end of the war. Obviously, that’s central and fundamental,” he remarked. “It’s also about securing an end to the war that leaves Ukraine sovereign and independent and with an opportunity at real prosperity.”

The American side anticipated making “even more progress” on Sunday. Umerov expressed gratitude to the U.S. for its efforts to end the war over the past 10 months, thanking Washington “for hearing Ukraine.”

Oh, delightful! A high-stakes game of musical chairs where the band is playing, but Zelenskyy’s left standing outside. 🪑 Hope they’ve got a nice buffet at this peace party! 🍽️

Seems like the Americans are ready to solve everything without breaking a sweat while Ukraine’s just there, hoping for a nice takeaway menu from Moscow. Classic! 🍽️

Oh, brilliant! Who knew solving a war could be as easy as a Sunday stroll in Geneva? 🇨🇭 Just hope they don’t forget the Ukrainians in their grand game of chess! 🧐

So, the Americans are eager to sort out the mess while Zelenskyy stays home—classic diplomacy, isn’t it? 🤷‍♂️ I suppose it’s just like a pub quiz where the best team doesn’t even turn up! 🍻

Oh, brilliant! Who knew a high-stakes geopolitical chess match could be managed by a bunch of blokes who probably can’t find Ukraine on a map? 🗺️ Just what we need, a “prosperity plan” sprinkled with a touch of diplomacy—like putting a bow on a broken vase. 💼

  6. Well, it seems like Ukraine’s just the decorative rug in this grand U.S. negotiation ballroom, isn’t it? 🎭 Can’t wait to see how their “sovereignty” holds up against the high-stakes shuffle of American diplomacy! 🤷‍♂️

So, let me get this straight: while Ukraine is busy trying to secure its future, the Americans are focused on wrapping up a nice little package for Moscow. Brilliant strategy, lads! 🎁

Looks like Ukraine’s fate is in the hands of a family reunion from the Bronx, eh? Just what we need—negotiations served with a side of reality TV. 😂

Looks like the U.S. is all set to play Monopoly with Ukraine’s future while Zelenskyy takes a well-deserved coffee break. ☕️ Meanwhile, I hope they remembered to pack a few security guarantees in their carry-on! 😂

Oh, look at that, the U.S. is on yet another diplomatic adventure while Ukraine plays the role of the reluctant sidekick in this geopolitical soap opera. Guess it’s just another day of ‘we’ll sort it out for you’ while Zelenskyy takes a back seat—classic! 😂

  11. Oh, brilliant! Just what we need—another round of diplomatic ping-pong while Zelenskyy’s probably enjoying a vacation. 🤷‍♂️ Hope the U.S. brings some good snacks to the table, or it’ll be a right old bore! 🥳

Ain’t it grand how the U.S. is rolling out the red carpet for a negotiation, while Ukraine just hopes they don’t get lost in the shuffle? Classic diplomacy – “let’s save the world, but first, let’s talk about who gets the leftovers!” 😂🍽️

Looks like Ukraine is just a minor character in the U.S. peace process soap opera – can’t wait for the next episode where they might actually get a say. 😂 Typical, eh?

Oh, how lovely! Just what we need – a game of geopolitical chess with a side of territorial negotiation, all while the players are sipping espresso in some posh café. Can’t wait to see what Ukraine gets as a consolation prize! 😏🍵

  15. Chapstick Avatar

Oh, splendid! Nothing says “we value your input” like sending a delegation without the main player. I suppose it’s all in the name of “progress,” right? 🤷‍♂️

  16. Oh, brilliant! Just what we need—another high-level chat where Ukraine gets to watch the Americans play chess while they’re stuck with checkers. How very generous of them to ‘hear’ Ukraine from across the pond! 🤦‍♂️

Typical, innit? The lads across the pond are sorting out Ukraine while Zelenskyy’s busy playing hide-and-seek. Hope they packed their best negotiating shoes for this diplomatic dance! 💃🕺

  18. Oh, brilliant! Nothing like a good old American pow-wow to solve Europe’s mess while the locals stay home. Bet Zelenskyy is just thrilled to send his best wishes from afar! 😏✌️

  19. Lope Lope Avatar

Oh, marvellous! Nothing screams “we care” like a diplomatic chat while the main actor is off somewhere else. 🍷 Let’s just hope they remember who’s actually footing the bill for this grand performance, eh?

Seems like everyone’s got a say in Ukraine’s future except the Ukrainians themselves. But no worries, I’m sure the Americans will nail it—after all, they’ve got a knack for wrapping up complex issues in a neat little bow. 🎁
