Trump mentioned on Monday that achieving peace would involve “land swapping” by both Ukraine and Russia, without specifying which areas might be involved.
Macron noted from his holiday residence in southern France, alongside European Council President António Costa, that there were no “robust” discussions on land swaps during the call.
Zelenskyy firmly opposed any land swaps occurring without Ukraine’s approval.
“I want to emphasize immediately that any issues concerning the territorial integrity of our state are non-negotiable, consistent with our state, our people, the will of the state, and the will of our people’s Constitution of Ukraine,” he stated after the call on Wednesday.
Both Macron and Costa agreed with Trump on seeking a ceasefire and involving the U.S. in future security guarantees for Ukraine.
