Tienen: A fire on Sunday night destroyed a warehouse and several city vehicles, including a gritting truck. No injuries occurred, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause.
On 1st December Sunday night around 9 p.m., a fire broke out in a warehouse, triggering the fire alarm. The fire brigade responded quickly and worked hard to prevent the flames from spreading. The warehouse was empty because it was Sunday, which helped avoid any injuries. Partyka stated, “Luckily, no one was in the warehouse,” Despite the fire’s intensity, there were no injuries.
What damage did the recent warehouse fire cause, and how will it affect city services?
The fire caused significant damage and impacted the city’s resources. Partyka stated, “The shed was completely burned out,”. The entire building and the vehicles inside, including a gritting truck and several sweeper trucks needed for city maintenance, were destroyed. This loss affects municipal services, especially in areas that require regular areas. While the fire brigade prevented the fire from spreading further, the damage shows how serious the incident was and the challenges the city will now face in recovering.
“One of the vehicles might have caused the fire, but we’re waiting for the investigation results,” Partyka said. The mayor is relieved the flames didn’t spread to other warehouses and praised the firefighters for their quick response. Partyka added that city services will continue to operate and create a plan to replace the lost gritting truck and sweeper trucks, possibly by renting vehicles or outsourcing services.
