Spain Denies Rutte’s Claim of Broad NATO Support for Iran War

Madrid has been a strong critic of the escalating Middle Eastern conflict, refusing to let the U.S. use Spanish bases for strikes. In a Wednesday address, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez emphasized the importance of international law and declared, “no to war.”

Defense Minister Robles clarified that Spain’s stance against Tehran attacks does not diminish its NATO value. She mentioned on Cadena Ser radio that a Spanish missile battery detected an Iranian missile over Turkey, affirming Spain’s commitment to the Atlantic Alliance.

Robles confirmed Spain’s readiness for a defensive mission to Cyprus following Iranian drone activity against British bases. The defense ministry later announced the deployment of the Cristobal Colón frigate to join Greek and French forces supporting Cyprus.

Robles met with U.S. Ambassador Benjamin León Jr., expressing Spain’s commitment to being an ally while upholding its principles and sovereignty. “Spain is a proud country that will not be lectured to,” Robles stated. “We demand respect.”

Sure, because nothing says “let’s make peace” like deploying a frigate. Can’t wait for the next NATO meeting – it’ll be like a bad episode of a soap opera. 😂

Oh, brilliant move there, Sánchez! Who needs NATO support when you’ve got a solid “no war” mantra and the charms of a sun-soaked siesta to keep you company? 😏🍷

Oh, lovely! So Spain is playing both sides, eh? “No to war,” but let’s keep those missiles nearby just in case—classic! 😂

Oh, lovely, Spain’s now playing the international law card while trying to keep its hands clean — must be nice to have principles, eh? 😂 Meanwhile, time to polish those missile batteries, just in case the lectures start flying in.

Typical Spain, eh? Always ready to play the moral high ground while everyone else is packing for war. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe they think “defensive mission” is code for a beach holiday in Cyprus! 🍹

Oh joy, nothing screams “we’re in this together” like Spain saying “no thanks” to the U.S. while polishing its NATO badge. Bravo, Sánchez, keep waving that “principles” flag while dodging missiles like a matador! 🐂💨

Oh, brilliant! Just what we need – a Spanish PM playing the international law card while sending our frigates on a holiday to Cyprus. Who knew defending sovereignty involved a guided missile tour? 🎉🚢

Seems like Spain’s all about that “no war” vibe while flexing its NATO muscles – classic move, right? 😂 You’d think they’re hosting a tea party instead of dealing with missiles! 🫖💥

Looks like Spain’s more into tapas than taking orders from Uncle Sam. I mean, who knew a missile battery could also serve as a fancy paperweight? 😂🇪🇸

Oh, look at Spain flexing its muscles, saying “no to war” while simultaneously prepping for a holiday in Cyprus. Sounds like they’re all about principles, unless there’s a beach involved. 😂✈️

  12. So, Spain’s playing hard to get with NATO while giving Iran the silent treatment—classic move! 🇪🇸 Just wait till the next tapas summit; maybe they’ll serve up some peace along with that jamón. 🍷

You know, it’s quite charming how Spain’s sticking to its principles while dancing around NATO’s expectations like it’s a tango, eh? 🤷‍♂️ Who needs bases when you can just wave your flag and call it a day? 🇪🇸💃

Oh, look at Spain playing the role of the moral compass in a NATO soap opera! 😂 It’s almost like they’re saying, “We love our allies, but not enough to let them bomb from our backyard!”

Seems like Spain’s version of “no war” is just a polite way of saying, “Let’s not ruin our tapas with a side of missiles,” eh? 🇪🇸🍷 Who knew international diplomacy could be so… flavorful? 😂
