Sergey Lavrov Criticizes Macron and Merz for Losing Common Sense

Moscow (Brussles Morning Newspaper) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a press conference after talks with Kyrgyzstan’s foreign minister said on Sunday that French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz have “completely lost their common sense” after the two EU heads recently published a joint piece for the Financial Times in which they called Moscow “the main threat” and asserted that Europe needs to “arm itself.”

How did Lavrov respond to both leaders? What did Macron and Merz call Russia in a joint article?

As reported by the Russian news agency TASS, Lavrov said that Macron and Merz lost their common sense finally and attempted to return to the times when Germany and France wanted to conquer the entire Europe.

How did Lavrov respond to both leaders?

“We are surprised to listen and look at spells sounded from European capitals. Macron and German Chancellor Merz have recently written a joint article, ‘Europe must arm itself; Russia is the main threat, it wages imperialistic wars, it intruded into Georgia in 2008, into Crimea and Donbass in 2014, into the territory of entire Ukraine in 2022; the goal of Putin is to undermine European security,”

Lavrov further stated.

“I believe these citations alone are enough for an individual, which has at least a little understanding of developments in Europe and keeps an eye on developments, to understand that these political figures lost the common sense ultimately and attempt to overtly return to the times when France and Germany wanted to conquer the whole Europe, the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union in the first instance,”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed.

What did Macron and Merz call Russia in a joint article?

French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, in a joint article published in the Financial Times, called Russia “the main threat” to European security and stressed that Europe must “arm itself” to better protect its sovereignty and reinforce the European pillar of NATO.

They emphasized the urgent need for Europe to strengthen its defense capabilities amid ongoing global instability, particularly due to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

What threats did Macron and Merz attribute to Russia?

Both leaders said that the primary source of instability for Europe comes from Russia, which, according to them, has been waging an imperialist battle, with its attacks on Georgia in 2008, then on Crimea and Donbas in 2014, then the whole of Ukraine in 2022. They also highlighted that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s objective is to sabotage European security to Moscow’s advantage.

Looks like Lavrov’s got a keen eye for irony—who knew he’d take a break from the “guilty as charged” act to critique Macron and Merz for their apparent lack of sense? 😂 One might think they were the ones trying to conquer Europe, not just safeguard it!

Looks like Lavrov’s just discovered that common sense isn’t a souvenir from the EU gift shop! 😂 Maybe he should send Macron and Merz a map—clearly, they’ve lost their way!

  3. Looks like Lavrov’s found a new hobby: critiquing his neighbors’ sense of logic. Who knew he was such a connoisseur of common sense? 😂

Typical Lavrov, eh? When the kettle calls the pot black, you know it’s just another day in the political circus – maybe they should arm themselves with a sense of humor instead. 😂

If Lavrov is the voice of reason, one might wonder what planet Macron and Merz are orbiting around. 🤔 The EU leaders really need to stop writing their scripts during a pub crawl; common sense doesn’t exactly flow with the pints, does it? 🍻
