US and Iran to Resume Talks Following Weekend Strikes

After an Iranian projectile hit a cargo vessel in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, the U.S. military announced on Saturday that it had targeted Iranian surveillance infrastructure, communications systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities, and minelaying capabilities. Iran retaliated by launching missiles and drones at U.S. military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait following additional American strikes in southern Iran.

The exchange of strikes led to new warnings from U.S. President Donald Trump. On Truth Social Sunday, Trump cautioned that if Tehran abandoned the agreement, “the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist” and stated that the United States was ready to “militarily finish the job.” Iran, in turn, threatened to suspend negotiations entirely.

Washington proposed that this week’s talks occur in Doha. Discussions could start as early as Tuesday, focusing on the use of the Strait of Hormuz.

The upcoming negotiations are intended to build on the high-level talks held in Switzerland earlier this month. During those talks, U.S. Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, met with Iranian officials to establish the groundwork for future negotiations expected to address complex issues, including Iran’s nuclear regime and U.S. sanctions.

Looks like the U.S. and Iran are back to playing diplomatic dodgeball – who knew throwing missiles was the pre-game warm-up? 🤷‍♂️ Good luck discussing peace over a lovely cuppa, lads! 🍵

Talk about a classic case of “let’s poke the hornet’s nest and then negotiate over tea”! I mean, who doesn’t love a little missile diplomacy before settling down for a chat in Doha? 😏✈️

Oh, splendid! Nothing screams “peace talks” quite like a good ol’ missile exchange. Let’s all sit down in Doha and sort it out over a nice cup of tea, shall we? ☕️💣

Looks like we’re back to playing “let’s negotiate while throwing missiles” – because nothing says diplomacy like a bit of missile firework, eh? 🤷‍♂️

Looks like we’re trading missiles for chit-chat again—nothing says diplomacy like a good old-fashioned game of “who can hit harder” before heading to the negotiation table in Doha. 🥳 I can already hear the sound of pens scribbling away while bombs are still dropping! 🎉

  6. Looks like the US and Iran are playing diplomatic dodgeball again—who knew international relations could be so… explosive? 💥 Can’t wait to see how this round of tea and missiles goes down in Doha! 🫖✈️

Looks like the art of diplomacy has turned into a weekend hobby—next up, a coffee break in Doha while we throw missiles like confetti. 🎉 Who knew international relations could be this thrilling?
