Peter Mandelson Advocates for Britain to Host the Super Bowl

“I want that Super Bowl in Britain. I don’t care when it takes place but I want it announced while I’m ambassador,” Mandelson said, prompting audience laughter. “We love it, we love it.”

Last year, London Mayor Sadiq Khan called for the Super Bowl to be hosted in the city to boost its reputation as the “sporting capital of the world.”

“The Super Bowl is really important for us,” Khan remarked. “We have several American football games and I want it to come here because we want American sports fans in Europe to come to London to watch them, not just go to America.”

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London is set to host two NFL games in October, but the next Super Bowl will be held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8.

The Super Bowl has never been held outside the U.S. since it began in 1967. It’s not the only sporting event people want in the U.K.

Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s son, called for the U.S. president’s Turnberry golf course in Scotland to host the Open Championship, although the tournament last took place there in 2009, five years before Trump bought the property.

Organizers stated it’s unlikely to happen soon due to logistical challenges and commercial viability.

So, Peter wants the Super Bowl in Britain, eh? Must be nice to think a few American blokes tossing a pigskin will turn us into the new Las Vegas. 😂🏈

Oh, brilliant! Let’s just slap a Super Bowl banner on the Thames and call it a day—because nothing screams ‘football’ like a rainy London afternoon, eh? 😂🏈

Fancy a Super Bowl in Britain, eh? Next, we’ll be hosting the World Series, followed by the Eurovision Cup – let’s just throw all sense out the window! 😂🏉

Oh brilliant, let’s bring a three-hour ad break masquerading as a game to the land of tea and crumpets. Who needs our beloved football when we can watch a bunch of lads in helmets chase a pigskin around? 🏈😂

Oh, brilliant idea, Pete! Because nothing screams “British culture” like a bunch of blokes in helmets chasing a pigskin while we sip our tea. 🍵🏈

Da Costa described the plan as “extraordinary.” She stated: “Previously, MPs voted to let the Lords carry out their duties. This is a completely different vote. There will be no way to stop it once it reaches the Lords. MPs will decide if they’re comfortable with the bill — with all its shortcomings and the evidence presented — becoming law.”
