Opposition SaS: Fico Prioritizes Personal Interests Over State Concerns, Eroding EU Unity with Orbán

Bratislava – National Council member Juraj Krúpa (SaS) has accused Prime Minister Robert Fico of undermining the cohesion of the European Union by aligning with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and labeling the West and Brussels as “bad.” According to Krúpa, Fico prioritizes personal alliances over national interests, as reported by TASR.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Krúpa stated, “Fico has consistently disregarded national interests, and his recent actions demonstrate that he has cast them aside.” He criticized Fico for compromising Slovakia’s values and history merely to establish a partnership within the EU.

“In collaboration with Viktor Orbán, he is eroding the unity of the European Union,” Krúpa asserted.

He alleged that the two leaders reached a consensus on their negative views toward the West and Brussels, and have begun coordinating efforts to limit freedoms and democracy in Slovakia. “What role does Viktor Orbán play in this, and is that why he sought Fico’s support for the issues he is causing within the EU?” Krúpa questioned.

While Krúpa acknowledged Orbán as a politician with distinct objectives, he noted that Orbán seeks allies to maintain his influence within the Union. He cautioned that Orbán harbors revisionist ambitions concerning Slovakia. Additionally, Krúpa pointed out Hungary’s obstruction of a 200 million euro payment from the European Peace Facility, designated for Ukraine in exchange for military equipment. He criticized the lack of discussion on this matter between the two prime ministers, as well as the unresolved issues surrounding the Gabčíkovo-Nagymaros Waterworks System.

Fico’s meeting with Orbán in Bratislava on Monday resulted in claims that there are no significant political tensions between their countries. Orbán emphasized that the current era reflects “the best Slovak-Hungarian relations in history.” Fico praised Hungary’s independent stance within the EU, asserting that he will always oppose punitive measures against any nation for asserting its sovereign interests. “Robert Fico and his partner Viktor Orbán are undermining the unity of the European Union.” Juraj Krúpa.

Funny how Fico and Orbán are like two peas in a pod, prioritizing their personal interests while giving the middle finger to EU unity. 🍻 Who needs democracy and values when you can have a cozy chat over some goulash, right? 😏

Oh, splendid! Nothing screams “unity” like a cozy coffee between Fico and Orbán, right? Must be nice to prioritize personal alliances over pesky little things like state interests—truly a masterclass in diplomacy. 🥳💼

Isn’t it just delightful when a Prime Minister decides that personal friendships trump national interests? 🎉 Who needs EU unity when you’ve got Viktor Orbán to share a pint with, right? 😂🍻

Isn’t it charming how Fico’s new hobby includes cozying up to Orbán while throwing the EU under the bus? 😏 Clearly, Slovakia’s values need a good old-fashioned makeover, and who better to lead that charge than a duo with a flair for controversial alliances!

Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “let’s strengthen the EU” quite like cozying up to Orbán—guess Fico’s got his priorities straight, eh? Maybe next he’ll suggest a group hug with Brexit! 😂
