The open house for the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints commenced with a media day on June 10, 2026. Invited guests will tour the temple on June 11 and 12, with the public open house running from June 13 through June 27, excluding Sundays.
During the open house, residents and visitors in Minas Gerais will have the opportunity to see the temple’s interior before its dedication on August 16, 2026. The temple’s architecture and interior design incorporate cultural elements from Minas Gerais, featuring stained-glass windows in shades of white, yellow, and blue, inspired by Portuguese tile patterns.
The temple is located at Rua Professor José Vieira de Mendonça, 1485, in the Engenho Nogueira neighborhood of Belo Horizonte. Brazil has over 1.5 million Church members across more than 2,000 congregations. The Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple is a significant milestone for Church members in the region and is one of 385 temples worldwide, either operational, under construction, or announced.
Currently, Brazil has dedicated temples in cities like Belém, Brasília, Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and São Paulo. New temples are being constructed or have been announced, highlighting the Church’s growth and the significance of these sacred buildings to members.
For Latter-day Saints, temples are considered houses of the Lord, with Jesus Christ as their central focus. Temples differ from meetinghouses, where all are welcome for Sunday services and weekday activities. Temples primarily serve faithful members who participate in sacred ceremonies, allowing families to be united forever.
