Nikoloski Appeals to EU for Exemption of Macedonian Carriers from New EEC Rules to Prevent Economic Harm

Skopje – In Parliament today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski expressed his agreement with the notion that the implementation of the EES system for transporters should be delayed. During a session addressing opposition inquiries, Nikoloski indicated that the Government backs the stance of the Chamber of Foreign Investors in Macedonia concerning the EES system regulating entry and exit from the EU. He announced that a meeting with Branko Azeski, President of the Economic Chamber, would take place following the session to discuss this matter.

– I hope that our collective efforts will produce positive outcomes. Additionally, in yesterday’s Government session, we assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade to once again reach out to the EU to request a postponement of these regulations. It is imperative that this issue is resolved, as it poses a significant threat to the economies of the entire Western Balkans region – stated Nikoloski.

He noted that discussions with the European Union regarding this issue have been ongoing for over a year, but understanding has been lacking.

– I will communicate to them that their actions could result in devastating consequences for the regional economy, leading to the withdrawal of many foreign investments originating from EU member states. I emphasize the term ‘region’ because this is a concern for the entire Western Balkans, not just Macedonia – he remarked.

Nikoloski highlighted that transporters are facing difficulties in obtaining work visas, as they lack a single employer in a particular Schengen member state, making it impossible for them to secure work visas. They transit through the Schengen area solely to reach the United Kingdom, which is generating numerous complications – he added.

In response to a question from opposition MP Mitko Trajculeski, Nikoloski mentioned that he had discussions yesterday with representatives from various sectors and businesses in Macedonia. This situation will not only lead to the loss of direct jobs but will also impact the companies and their operational rates significantly.

Nikoloski urged the public to recognize the serious challenges facing the region, which could have a profound impact on the economy. (21 January 2026)

Oh, charming! Just what we need—more meetings and requests for exemptions! I’m sure the EU is just sitting there, waiting to hear about our “devastating consequences” while they sip their espressos. ☕️😏

  2. Just what we needed, another government official asking the EU for a favor like it’s a free refill at a café. 🍵 Maybe if they keep waving their hands long enough, Brussels will just throw in a complimentary exemption! 😏

Looks like Nikoloski’s off to the EU with his begging bowl, hoping for a miracle while the rest of us are just trying to figure out how to drive to work without a road map. Typical Balkans – where the paperwork is more complicated than solving a Rubik’s cube after a few pints! 🍻🚗

Looks like Nikoloski’s got a real handle on things, eh? Asking the EU for a breather while the whole Western Balkans economy dangles by a thread – classic move! 😂🚗💼

  5. Oh, brilliant! Just what we needed—another bureaucratic tango with the EU. I can already hear the sound of cash registers crying in the background. 💸

Looks like our dear Nikoloski is pulling the classic ‘begging for mercy’ move with the EU again. Maybe next time he should bring a cake to sweeten the deal—everyone loves a good pastry! 🎂

Oh, look at Nikoloski waving the white flag to the EU again—clearly, the only thing more complicated than a Macedonian traffic jam is getting a visa! 🚦💼 Who knew navigating bureaucracy would be this much fun? 😂

Oh, brilliant! Who knew that appealing to the EU for a free pass was the new national sport? I guess we’ll just have to keep sending them love letters until they feel sorry enough to change the rules. 🤷‍♂️

Oh, brilliant! Nothing screams progress like begging the EU for a favor while we’re all just waiting for the ‘economic harm’ to knock on our doors, eh? 🥳 Typical Balkan flair—always the underdog, but with a side of euro-sarcasm!

Seems like Nikoloski’s got the EU on speed dial just to ask for a favor—classic Balkan charm! 😂 I wonder if they’ll throw in a ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card for good measure.

If only the EU could see that delaying regulations is the key to economic prosperity—surely, it’s not like they have better things to do, right? 😂 Keep dreaming, mate!

  12. Seems like we need to wait a bit longer for the EU to realize that a ‘no’ from Macedonia isn’t exactly a diplomatic power move. Keep at it, lads—who knew economic harm could be such a riveting topic for parliamentary debate? 😂🚕

  13. Looks like our Deputy PM is really on the ball with this one – who knew that asking the EU for a favor could take longer than a leisurely stroll through a café in Paris? 🍷 Just what we need, more delays and discussions while the rest of Europe speeds ahead! 😂

Oh, brilliant! Who knew that delaying the EES system would be the magic solution to our economic woes? Maybe next we can ask the EU for a free pass on taxes too, eh? 😏💼

Looks like Nikoloski’s got a real gem of a proposal there – nothing screams “we love regulations” quite like begging for an exemption to save our poor, overworked carriers. 🙄 Who knew navigating EU rules could be such a thrill ride, eh?

Seems like asking the EU for a favor is the new Olympic sport in Skopje – too bad the gold medal is just a delay in regulations. 🥇🚚 Good luck to Nikoloski, maybe he should try sending them a nice postcard instead! 😂✉️

Oh sure, let’s just charm the EU into giving us a break while we juggle our economic woes like a circus act. Because nothing says “we’re serious” quite like a last-minute appeal from the Balkans, right? 🤷‍♂️

Right, because what we truly need is another round of bureaucratic red tape from the EU—let’s just delay this until we can find out how to make a decent cup of coffee in Parliament! ☕️✨ #Priorities

Oh, brilliant, let’s just keep asking the EU for favors while the whole region hangs in the balance. Who needs a solid plan when you can just charm your way out of a crisis? 😏

  20. Seems like our dear Deputy PM is trying to teach the EU a lesson in compassion – who knew they had feelings? 😂 Just a tad bit late for that, mate!
