“Currently, the majority of the Jewish population opposes a Palestinian state because they believe it will lead to conflict rather than peace,” he stated.
“It is disappointing and, frankly, shameful for European countries and Australia to pursue that path,” Netanyahu remarked. “But it won’t affect our stance. We are not going to jeopardize our nation’s safety for temporary media approval.”
Although there is ongoing discussion about Australia recognizing Palestine, a definitive decision has not been made.
The latest initiative, led by French President Emmanuel Macron, emerges during Israel’s military operations in Gaza, which have resulted in numerous casualties, along with continued settler activities in the West Bank.
If France and the UK proceed, they would be the first G7 countries to acknowledge Palestine. The U.S. opposes the plan, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio stating that France’s actions disrupted the ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas.

Concerning the Palestinians, Netanyahu asserted: “If they wish to coexist with us, they must cease their attempts to destroy us. Granting them an independent state with full autonomy would only pave the way for inevitable conflict, a prospect firmly rejected by the Israeli populace.”
