Merz Wouldn’t Encourage His Kids to Move to America Anymore

Merz stated, “I admire America,” but expressed concern for the current situation, eliciting laughter from the audience. This highlights the increasing tension between Berlin and Washington after weeks of public disputes between Merz and President Trump.

The German leader, formerly the head of Atlantik-Brücke—a network fostering U.S.-German ties—told schoolchildren on April 28 that the American president had been “humiliated” by Iran and lacked a coherent strategy for the war that began in late February following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets.

On May 1, three days after the remarks, the Pentagon announced the withdrawal of 5,000 U.S. troops from Germany, following an earlier threat by Trump.

Despite the friction, Merz mentioned on X that he had “a good phone call” with Trump—marking their first communication since the public disagreements—emphasizing afterward that “the U.S. and Germany are strong partners in a strong NATO.”

Berlin has rejected U.S. requests for NATO’s direct involvement in the Iran war, asserting “it is not NATO’s war” while allowing for only a limited German minesweeper role in the Strait of Hormuz after the fighting ceases.

The Trump administration holds a distinct view of Europe’s political situation. In its National Security Strategy published in December last year, Washington warned that Europe faced potential “civilizational erasure” due to migration, weakening national identities, and EU policies allegedly undermining sovereignty.

Seems like Merz is finally seeing America for what it is—a theme park where the rides are a bit too wild even for the bravest of us. 😂 Who needs Hollywood when you’ve got the drama of international politics?

Nothing screams “I love America” quite like telling your kids to steer clear of it—real parenting gold there! 😂 Maybe he thinks the streets are paved with gold, but they’re just covered in Trump tweets and NATO headaches.

Seems like Merz is having a real epiphany about the American Dream—turns out it’s more of a ‘nightmare’ now, eh? 😂 But don’t worry, I’m sure the schoolkids will still get a kick out of the whole ‘humiliation’ and ‘coherent strategy’ bit.

Honestly, it’s quite refreshing to hear a politician admit that the American dream might just be a bit overcooked these days. 😂 I mean, who wouldn’t want their kids to grow up in a place where geopolitics is more chaotic than a cheap pub brawl? 🍻

Looks like Merz has decided that sending the kids to the land of the free is less appealing than a rainy day in Berlin. Who knew the American Dream came with a side of geopolitical chaos? 😂

So, Merz won’t send his kids to the land of opportunity anymore—guess he’s realized that America’s idea of “freedom” includes a side of chaos and a sprinkle of humiliation, eh? 😂 Who needs that when you can have a nice bratwurst in Berlin instead? 🍺

Moving to America? Sounds like a real holiday destination now! 😅 Maybe we should just send postcards instead of the kids; at least they won’t end up in a reality show! 📬✈️

Moving to America? Sounds like a brilliant plan if you enjoy living in a reality show where the main character thinks he’s the hero. 😂 But hey, who doesn’t love a bit of chaos with their morning coffee, right? ☕️

Oh, the irony! A German leader now thinks America’s a tad too wild for the kiddies—who would’ve thought? 😂 Maybe he prefers them to stay in the land of sauerkraut and order instead of risking a trip to the “wild west” over there!

Moving to America? Oh, mate, sounds like a right laugh, innit? It’s like choosing to dive into a pool of piranhas when you could just enjoy a nice pint in peace. 🍺😏

Seems like Merz has swapped his “Land of Opportunity” postcard for a “No Thanks” note—who knew America came with so many strings attached? 🤷‍♂️🇩🇪

Seems like Merz has decided that America is more of a “don’t go there, mate” than a “land of opportunity” these days. 😂 Who needs coherent strategy when you’ve got a good chat on the phone, eh?

Seems like Merz thinks America’s charm has lost its sparkle—who knew a little ‘humiliation’ could do that? 😂 Maybe the kids should stick to the good old continent; we’ve got enough drama without adding a Hollywood script!

Funny how Merz admires America from afar, sort of like how I admire my neighbor’s fancy car while my old banger chugs along. 😂 But hey, who wouldn’t want to invest in a country where the leadership is a circus act?

Looks like Merz is packing his kids’ bags for a trip to Europe instead of the Land of Opportunity. Who needs American dreams when you can have a front-row seat to this political circus? 🤡✈️

Seems like Merz has finally realized that the American dream is more like a sitcom with a very bad plot twist. 😂 Who needs coherent strategies when you can just throw a BBQ in the backyard and pretend everything’s fine, right? 🍔

Democracy rarely collapses in a single dramatic moment; it is often hollowed out gradually, through steps like court-packing, hostile media laws, weakened watchdogs, a frightened opposition, and the public being told that rights are obstacles. This gradual weakening, known as democratic backsliding, affects Europe and other fragile democracies, as well as societies that believe elections alone su

His wish was granted by the coalition government headed by the Conservative Prime Minister, David Cameron and his deputy the Europhile lea
