Paris – “Next Thursday, we will convene a summit for the coalition of volunteers,” announced the French president, referring to nations willing to provide various forms of “security guarantees” for Ukraine as part of a potential peace agreement. This statement came at the conclusion of a European Union council meeting in Brussels.
This upcoming summit follows several discussions held in Paris and London since early March and will occur after U.S.-led talks with Russia and Ukraine, aimed at establishing a limited truce set to take place on Monday in Saudi Arabia.
Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are working to form this coalition of countries to support Ukraine, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s initiation of direct talks with Russia last month in an effort to conclude the three-year conflict. (March 21, 2025)
