The surprising performance of an unplanned left-wing alliance outshone both Macron’s coalition and the RN, causing a significant political upset. France’s political scene has become contentious, prompting speculation that Macron might consider triggering elections again when legally possible, in early July. Although in April, Macron dismissed claims about dissolving parliament, stating he never entertained the idea. While attending the UN Oceans Conference in Nice, Macron emphasized the need for increased cooperation. He expressed, “The political parties able to form a majority in the National Assembly should prove they can collaborate, like our neighbors. That is what democracy demands during divisive times.” Nevertheless, as long as this collaboration remains out of reach, Macron might still contemplate using his constitutional power to prompt elections — even if he denies it. Looks like Macron’s cooking up another election soufflé, just when we thought the political drama couldn’t get any juicier! 🍷 Maybe he should take a page from the tapas menu: a little bit of collaboration goes a long way, non?
