Flowertime 2025 Unveils 100,000 Flowers in Brussels Hall

Brussels (Eurotoday) – Flowertime 2025, running August 13–17 ,in Brussels City Hall, features 15 rooms with 100,000 flowers. Artistic director Pieter Toebaert leads 30 Belgian and international florists, themed on fashion and textiles.

As VRT News reported, Flowertime has started in Brussels, from August 13, 2025, to August 17, 2025, turning the Brussels City Hall into a large floral exhibition. The event takes place every 2 years and alternates with the Flower Carpet on the Grand Place.

This year marks the 7th edition. Inside the City Hall, 15 historic rooms are filled with flower decorations. 30 floral artists from Belgium and abroad join the event. Each room shows a different style and theme.

“We’re actually the little sister of the Flower Carpet in Brussels,”

says Pieter Toebaert, artistic director of Flowertime.

“In odd-numbered years, we decorate City Hall with both Belgian and international florists.”

What makes Flowertime 2025, with 100,000 flowers in Brussels, special?

The theme for this edition is fashion and textiles. According to Pieter Toebaert, the exhibition is like a journey for visitors. It starts with a catwalk with mannequins. Each room presents new surprises with flowers that reflect fabrics, patterns, and colours.

The tour concludes in the Gothic Hall, where a floral display features flowers and light as the grand finale. Guests will have the opportunity to walk through the City Hall and experience all the exhibits via a pedestrian path.

The Flowertime 2025 exhibition in Brussels will have more than 100,000 flowers in the displays. The flowers come from Belgian growers. Pieter Toebaert said the high demand could already be felt at the flower auctions. The exhibition fills all 15 historic rooms of Brussels City Hall.

According to officials, the indoor setting of City Hall gives the florists a small advantage. It is a little warmer than usual. Some rooms are equipped with cooling systems, and the artists check the flowers every day to refresh the arrangements.

Flowertime started in 2009 as a biennial event in Brussels. It takes place every 2 years, alternating with the Flower Carpet on the Grand Place. The exhibition brings Belgian and international florists together to decorate the historic City Hall.

Each edition has a theme that guides the floral designs. The event turns the halls into creative and colourful displays that visitors can walk through. Flowertime has grown into a major cultural attraction. It draws both locals and tourists.

So, 100,000 flowers in Brussels City Hall, eh? I mean, who wouldn’t want to walk through a floral fashion show when you can just pop down to the local florist for a bunch of daisies? 🌼💁‍♂️

100,000 flowers in a city hall? That’s one way to tackle our issues with unemployment—just hire a few more florists and call it art! 🌸💼

Oh great, 100,000 flowers in Brussels Hall, because who wouldn’t want to pay homage to nature by spending time in a glorified greenhouse? 🌸💁‍♂️ Just what the city needed—more floral arrangements to distract us from the actual issues at hand!

Looks like Brussels has decided to outdo itself yet again with 100,000 flowers—because nothing says “we’re a serious city” quite like a floral fashion show. 🌸💁‍♂️ Next, we’ll probably be decorating the Atomium with LED lights and calling it modern art!

Flowers in a historic hall? Brilliant! Because nothing says “fashion” like a hundred thousand blooms in a place where the only real fashion is dodging the rain. 🌧️💐

  6. Looks like Brussels has decided to outdo itself with a floral extravaganza – because who doesn’t need 100,000 flowers to remind them of spring in the middle of summer? 🌸💐 Might as well throw in a few mannequins for good measure; nothing says “artistry” like a floral fashion show in a Gothic hall!

Who knew 100,000 flowers could make Brussels City Hall look like a high-end floral boutique? Next year, maybe they’ll finally let the tulips on the catwalk strut their stuff! 🌷💃
