Fico: Slovakia’s Space in the EU; Kallasová Must Resign

Bratislava – Slovakia’s future lies within the EU, as there are no alternatives. However, reforms are necessary to ensure the Union remains strong and competitive, stated Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) during TA3’s discussion program In Politics. He also called for the resignation of the EU’s chief diplomat, Kaja Kallasová, according to TASR.

“The European Union must make decisions. We need to determine whether we will be active participants or merely observers of global events,” emphasized Robert Fico. He expressed concerns about the Union’s declining competitiveness, remarking that the EU seems preoccupied with hostility towards Russia.

“Changes are imminent in Europe. If the EU fails to recognize its issues, it will be unable to respond effectively,” he added.

With nearly 500 million residents, the EU possesses significant economic power and potential to emerge as a superpower. He criticized Kaja Kallasová.

“We need a new High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Kallasová must be replaced. This is the first time I am stating this openly. I have voiced many critical opinions about her. We are currently facing an international crisis, and Europe lacks a coherent response. It takes us too long to issue statements on issues like Venezuela. Strong leadership is required, not just from individual nations,” Fico declared.

He expressed support for a potential EU coalition focused on enhancing competitiveness, addressing illegal migration, or lowering energy prices.

“The Slovak Republic’s future is in the European Union; we have no other choice. I predict the EU will undergo substantial changes soon. The question is whether we will navigate this transition weakened by internal conflicts and uncertainty, or if we will assert our sovereignty,” the Prime Minister concluded. (11 January)

“We are in a crisis, in an international crisis, Europe is not able to react, we do not have our own international positions.” Robert Fico

  1. Seems like Fico’s got a handle on the EU’s issues—shame we can’t just vote him in as the new chief diplomat! 😂 But who needs coherent leadership when you can just throw shade at Kallasová, right?

  2. Nothing like a prime minister giving us a masterclass on how to fix the EU while simultaneously suggesting his colleague take a long walk off a short pier. Next up, “How to Win Friends and Influence People: The Fico Edition.” 🤷‍♂️

Seems like Fico’s got a flair for drama—nothing like a little EU soap opera while the rest of us are just trying to figure out if our coffee’s strong enough to deal with all this nonsense. 🍵

Right, so Fico thinks the EU’s his personal playground and Kallasová’s just a pawn in his game, eh? Must be nice to sit in Bratislava and toss around ideas like they’re confetti at a festival, while the rest of us are just trying to keep our heads above water. 😂

Seems like Fico’s got a handle on the EU’s “no alternatives” policy while he’s at it, right? Can’t wait for the next episode of “As the EU Turns,” where Kallasová gets the boot and someone else takes a shot at solving this delightful mess. 😏

Just what we needed, another lecture on leadership from Mr. Fico—like a taxi driver critiquing a Formula 1 race. 🚖💨 Maybe we should just replace our diplomats with him and call it a day, eh?

  7. Quite the revelation from Fico, isn’t it? Who knew Slovakia’s future hinged on the EU, like a dodgy café serving instant coffee—just what we needed, eh? ☕️😏

Slovakia’s Prime Minister thinks Kallasová should pack her bags, but let’s be real—if the EU were any slower at making decisions, we’d need a calendar to measure their responses! 😏

Oh, brilliant, another “urgent” call for reform from Mr. Fico. It’s almost as if the EU was just waiting for his wise words before deciding to get its act together! 😂

  10. Seems like Fico’s got a master’s in pointing fingers while holding onto his EU membership like it’s a lifebuoy 🛟. Maybe if he spent less time criticizing and more time doing, we’d have a better shot at that “superpower” status. 🤷‍♂️

  11. Looks like Fico’s got a real handle on things—calling for Kallasová’s head while the EU’s busy deciding which flavor of crisis to tackle next. 🤔 Maybe they should try a bit of that “strong leadership” he’s on about, instead of just finger-pointing.

Seems like Fico’s got it all figured out—call for a resignation while the EU fumbles around like a blindfolded mime at a Slovak wedding. Bravo, mate! 🍷🇸🇰

  13. Right, so Fico’s solution to our crisis is to swap one diplomat for another like changing socks? Sounds like a solid plan… if socks had any sense at all. 😂

Seems like Fico thinks he’s the captain of the Titanic, insisting we’re all just fine as the iceberg looms. Maybe if he steers a bit quicker, we won’t have to worry about the lifeboats! 😏💼

  15. Only in Slovakia could one man simultaneously proclaim the EU’s strength while demanding the head of a diplomat like it’s a reality TV show elimination round. 🤷‍♂️ Cheers to leadership that prioritizes drama over actual solutions! 🍿

Seems like Fico’s got a PhD in stating the obvious—of course the EU needs to get its act together! Who knew diplomacy could be so complicated? 😏

Slovakia’s future hinges on the EU, eh? Who knew we needed a crystal ball for that revelation! 😏 Time for Kallasová to pack her bags; maybe she can take a holiday to find her leadership skills! 🧳✨

Seems like Fico’s got it all figured out—just a casual call for a new chief diplomat while the EU is busy playing hide and seek with its own relevance. 🤷‍♂️ You’d think with 500 million residents, we’d have a bit more pizzazz in our global game! 🍕
