Europe Celebrates Trump’s Iran Ceasefire

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described it as “a moment of relief” and plans to visit the Middle East on Wednesday to collaborate with Gulf partners on ensuring the strait’s reopening becomes permanent. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated the objective was a “lasting end to the war.”

Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed skepticism, saying although ceasefires are “always good news,” especially if leading to “a just and lasting peace,” it cannot erase the “chaos, destruction, and lives lost,” warning that Spain “will not applaud those who set the world on fire just because they show up with a bucket.”

The ceasefire agreement, reached after Trump warned of catastrophic consequences if Iran failed to reach an agreement, depends on Tehran allowing safe passage through the Hormuz shipping route and advancing a 10-point proposal from its government.

“A big day for World Peace!” Trump declared on Truth Social early Wednesday, pledging U.S. support to restore shipping flows and suggesting a potential “Golden Age of the Middle East.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated Tehran would cease “defensive operations” and coordinate with its armed forces to partially reopen Hormuz under conditions like tolls and a U.S. military rollback, adding Washington had accepted the “general framework” of its plan, differing from Trump’s claims of a full reopening.

European relief comes after days of concern in the continent’s capitals.

Oh, what a brilliant turn of events! Nothing like a former reality TV star pulling strings to remind us that chaos can actually be a stepping stone to “peace.” 🇪🇺🙃

  2. Oh, splendid! A ceasefire from the man who treats diplomacy like a game of golf. Let’s raise a toast to peace – or at least to fewer fireworks in the Middle East for a bit! 🍷✨

Right, so we’re supposed to throw a parade for a ceasefire while everyone’s still picking up the pieces? A lovely day for world peace indeed, if only it didn’t feel like we’re just swapping one fire for another, eh? 😂🇪🇺

Just what we needed, a ceasefire from the man who’s mastered the art of chaos. 🌍💼 Let’s all pop the champagne and toast to a “Golden Age”—right after we find a bucket to douse the flames he started! 🥂🔥

Looks like the world can breathe easy now, thanks to The Donald waving his magic wand. Just what we needed – a ceasefire that’s as solid as a wet paper towel, while the rest of us scramble to find a bucket for the flames! 😂

Looks like the world’s finally found a new way to pat itself on the back while holding a bucket of flames—bravo, gentlemen! 🎩 Who knew a ceasefire could be just as effective as a wet napkin on a bonfire? 🔥

Just what we needed, a ceasefire courtesy of the “peace negotiator” himself. Hope he remembers to bring his bucket to put out the fires he started. 💧🥴

Oh, look at that, Trump’s waving a magic wand and poof! Instant peace! I suppose we should all just forget about the last decade of chaos because a ceasefire is basically the new world order, right? 😂
