EU Expands Russia Sanctions List by Adding 5 Individuals Following Ukraine Attacks

The European Union has expanded its Russia sanctions by including five more individuals. This action is in response to Moscow’s “intensified strikes deliberately targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure” in Ukraine, as mentioned in a press release.

Although the press release does not specify any particular attack, Russia launched one of its deadliest assaults on the Ukrainian capital earlier this week, resulting in 17 fatalities. In a similar incident in July, another attack on Kyiv claimed 12 lives.

The list of newly sanctioned individuals includes Ramil Badgutdinov, who leads a company involved in producing Iskander-M ballistic missiles, and Aleksandr Dyukarev, who heads the KrasMash plant responsible for manufacturing Sarmat ballistic missiles. Although Russia has not deployed Sarmat missiles in Ukraine, Moscow has been conducting tests on them.
