According to the EU Commission, the total amount blank” rel=”noopener”>paid under the RRF has now exceeded €300 billion. This significant milestone highlights the scale of the transformative reforms and investments being implemented across European Union Member States, advancing the green and digital transitions while bolstering the EU’s overall resilience.

As reported by the Commission, Czechia received its third payment of €1.7 billion, Germany secured its second payment of €13.5 billion, Italy obtained its sixth payment of €8.7 billion,

Portugal welcomed its fifth payment of €2.9 billion, and Romania received €37.05 million as part of its second payment request.

The European Commission stated that these payments demonstrate the EU’s ongoing commitment to supporting Member States in implementing their recovery and resilience plans, fostering sustainable growth, enhancing economic resilience, and advancing the green and digital transitions across the European Union.

What role does the Recovery and Resilience Facility play?

The Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) was established in February 2021 to mitigate the economic and social impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. It serves as the cornerstone of NextGenerationEU, an extraordinary EU recovery instrument designed to address the immediate economic and social fallout of the pandemic. Through the RRF, the EU is set to provide up to €650 billion in grants and loans to Member States.

The RRF aims to alleviate the pandemic’s economic and social effects, strengthen Member States’ resilience, enhance sustainability, and better prepare for the challenges and opportunities of the green and digital transitions. It also contributes to achieving the EU’s goal of climate neutrality by 2050, advancing Europe’s digital transformation, creating jobs, and driving growth.
