EPP Group Leader Weber Appeals for EU Embassies to be Designated as Safe Havens

Berlin (dpa) – In light of the violence faced by demonstrators in Iran, German politician Manfred Weber is urging that the remaining EU embassies in the country be made available as safe havens for persecuted Iranians. “We must shield them from the terror regime. Let us convert all EU country embassies in Iran into shelters, allowing peaceful demonstrators to find refuge,” stated the leader of the conservative European People’s Party (EPP) group in the European Parliament in an interview with the newspaper “Bild.” He condemned the deadly violence from the mullah regime against peaceful protesters, asserting that the brave opposition in Iran warrants our full support.

Earlier, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, called for significantly greater support from EU member state governments for the protests against Iran’s leadership. Metsola had previously barred all official representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran from entering the European Parliament premises on Monday.

Human rights organization Hengaw reports that over 2,500 individuals have died in Iran since the onset of the protests, as the security forces systematically suppress the demonstrations. Presently, the protests have diminished. (January 14)

Oh sure, let’s just turn the embassies into cozy B&Bs for protesters—who needs diplomatic relations when you can play superhero, right? 😏 But hey, at least the mullahs will have something to chuckle about! 🥴

  2. Oh, brilliant idea, Manfred! Let’s turn embassies into cozy little refugee spots—who needs actual policies when we can just throw some pillows and blankets around? 🛋️✨

Oh sure, let’s just turn the embassies into a cozy little holiday inn for activists, shall we? I can already hear the mullahs rolling their eyes while booking their next flight to Brussels. 😂✈️

Typical, isn’t it? Just when you think the EU has run out of ideas, here comes Weber with the brilliant plan to turn embassies into a sort of holiday inn for protesters. Next, he’ll suggest we throw in a complimentary croissant with every asylum request! 🥐😏

Typical, isn’t it? While we sit comfortably in our cushy offices, the EU is busy turning embassies into hostels for the oppressed—who needs a solution when you can just play house, right? 😂

Oh, sure, turning embassies into cozy little safe houses sounds like a brilliant idea! Because nothing says “we care” quite like a diplomatic shield while the real action happens outside the gates. 🏰✨

Isn’t it just delightful when politicians discover that embassies can be more than just fancy buildings? 🏛️ Maybe next, they’ll turn them into holiday resorts for those in need! 😂

  18. Quite the masterstroke from Weber, isn’t it? Turning embassies into bunkers while hoping the mullahs will just ignore the fact… it’s like offering a warm cuppa to a badger in a boxing ring! 🥊🇪🇺

Seems like ol’ Manfred thinks our embassies are just posh B&Bs for refugees now, eh? I mean, why not turn them into holiday resorts while we’re at it? 🏖️😏
