Car Rams House Façade in Sint-Truiden as Driver Misses Bend

Sint‑Truiden (Eurotoday Newspaper) – During the night, a seemingly ordinary stretch of road on Truilingenweg in Sint-Truiden became the center of a shocking traffic accident after a vehicle went off the road and crashed into the facade of a building. The accident took place on the night of Saturday, 29 August 2026, in the town of Limburg when a driver in the area lost control over his vehicle and collided with the property’s facade while driving. It is stated that a 55-year-old driver from Donceel, a locality located near Borgworm, was in the car when it lost control over the bends and crashed against the facade.

How severe were the injuries and damage to the house and car?

While the scary scene of a vehicle being stuck in the outer wall of a residence, it has been reported that the driver managed to survive the ordeal without suffering any physical injuries. In a local report, it was mentioned that the driver “kwam met de schrik vrij” which implies that while he was shocked, he had no physical injuries. It is the vehicle that got damaged seriously by the collision, as per the assessment of emergency responders, who stated that it was badly damaged. The residence too got seriously damaged to its façade, with signs of impact evident.

Why did the car leave the road and hit the house?

The exact cause has been described by investigators and the first responders thus far as unknown, the immediate sequence being understood but the cause behind it being examined further. It was mentioned by police and firefighters that the accident occurred “om een nog onbekende reden”, stressing that although the driver failed to make a turn, it is still not determined whether such elements like the speed, distractions, illness of the driver, or road condition contributed to the accident. At this point, it cannot be said from any report that this accident was done on purpose.

How did emergency services respond on the Truilingenweg?

The Hulpverleningszone Zuid-West Limburg responded quickly to assess the stability of the house in light of any danger for occupants and passers-by in case of possible collapse of the façade. The firefighters investigated the area of collision, where the vehicle crashed into the building in the vicinity of one of its windows. It is noteworthy that such an approach highlighted the gravity of the situation, even though there were no casualties, as a damaged façade could be dangerous for some time.

What did firefighters say about the driver’s luck and the impact point?

First responders highlighted how the specific point of contact likely prevented a far worse outcome. A firefighter noted that the driver was “very lucky”, explaining that the car hit near a window corner, where the construction absorbed much of the force.

“Hitting another part of the wall could have led to far worse consequences, potentially driving through the house,”

the firefighter said, underscoring how a small shift in trajectory might have turned a serious crash into a potentially catastrophic one.

So, another driver proving that some folks should stick to driving in straight lines. Who knew a house could double as a speed bump? 😂

Seems like someone took the term “drive-by” a bit too literally in Sint-Truiden! 🚗💥 Next time, perhaps a GPS would help avoid house-hunting with a car? 😂
