Ukraine warns of new Russian ground attack on Kyiv

Russian forces launched a ground attack on Kyiv at the start of their full-scale invasion in February 2022, partially from Belarus, but were repelled by the Ukrainian military.

Palisa’s remarks follow a Wall Street Journal report about Russia testing its ability to mobilize more troops. The Kremlin is losing more troops than it can recruit, and there’s a growing exodus of Russians fearing a new mobilization effort from Moscow.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated on Saturday that “escalation from Russia’s side is progressing” after a briefing from NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte. This was shortly after CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s unexpected visit to Moscow, where he warned Russian officials against escalating conflict with NATO allies.

Tusk mentioned that Ukraine requires more air support and emphasized that the upcoming six months “will be decisive,” urging Poland and NATO to prepare for various scenarios.

Ukraine is experiencing “virtually nonstop attack from jet-powered drones,” according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In a separate address, he acknowledged Ukraine’s need to speed up the production of interceptors to counter Iranian-designed Shahed drones.
