Bomb Threat Closes Part of Brussels Metro

The Brussels metro experienced partial closures on Tuesday afternoon as authorities investigated a bomb threat in the city center.

“There are three stations closed — De Brouckere, Bourse, Annessens — due to an ongoing police search. The alert began around 3:35 p.m. While the metro service is not interrupted, trains are not halting at these stations,” stated a spokesperson from metro operator STIB.

“We have evacuated the area surrounding the Palace cinema and nearby metro stations due to a bomb threat and are currently conducting a search,” said police spokesperson Linda Camarero-Verde, according to public broadcaster VRT.
