Slovenia Transfers Presidency of EU Strategy for the Alpine Region to Austria and Liechtenstein

Brdo pri Kranju – On Thursday, Slovenia marked the conclusion of its second presidency of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) during the 9th Annual Forum held in Brdo pri Kranju. The presidency has now transitioned to Austria and Liechtenstein. Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon praised Slovenia’s tenure as a success at a press conference.

“Collaboration in the Alpine region is vital, especially as our communities face increasingly challenging living conditions due to severe weather changes. Additionally, we aim to protect biodiversity, safeguard the environment, and maintain our competitive edge,” Fajon stated.

Established in 2015, EUSALP seeks to enhance cross-border cooperation among the seven Alpine countries—Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Slovenia, and Switzerland—covering 48 regions. The initiative focuses on common goals and effective implementation. Key areas of priority include sustainable economic growth and innovation, mobility and connectivity, as well as environmental and energy issues. (November 14)
