The Elysée and Qiddiya Investment Company did not provide comments on the project’s specifics. Qiddiya Managing Director Abdullah Aldawood met Macron at the last two Choose France summits, aiming to attract foreign investment, where a memorandum of understanding was mentioned in the press kit for a potential tourism and entertainment project in France.
Prior to the Choose France event this year, Aldawood met Valérie Pécresse, president of the Île-de-France region, home to the abandoned Mirapolis site. He also engaged with Business France and Choose Paris Region officials, according to an attendee of those meetings.
The project is progressing, as evidenced by a meeting last month where Île-de-France officials, including Paris representatives, met with 10 key ministries, electricity grid operator RTE, and Île-de-France Mobilités to discuss the park’s revival. The agenda, seen by POLITICO, covered governance, transportation infrastructure, energy, and land acquisition. The meeting was led by Macron’s former Chief of Staff Georges-François Leclerc, now Île-de-France’s prefect.
A ministerial adviser at the meeting noted, “We had no information before the meeting invitation but understand the Elysée aims to increase pressure on this issue.”
