Church of Scientology & Community Centre of Dublin to highlight humanitarian principles through community service

DUBLIN, Ireland, 3 August 2026 — On Saturday, 29 August 2026, a World Humanitarian Day event focusing on practical community service methods will be held at the Church of Scientology & Community Centre of Dublin.

The three-hour event from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., located on Firhouse Road, Dublin 24, will honor humanitarian service and showcase techniques for aiding family, neighbors, colleagues, and community members.

It will localize international humanitarian values, demonstrating their relevance not only in major disasters but also in organized community service and personal acts of assistance.

Humanitarian service is often linked to emergency teams in disaster-stricken or hardship areas. Locally, it manifests when volunteers support isolated residents, aid families in need, manage essential supplies, or contribute to civic or charitable projects.

The Dublin program will explore skills to help individuals offer constructive responses during stress, confusion, or difficulty, focusing on communication, organization, conflict resolution, and calm, responsible support.

These skills are part of the training for Scientology Volunteer Ministers, a social-service initiative launched in the mid-1970s by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.

The program is based on the principle that equipped individuals can more effectively assist others with practical knowledge and responsible application.

Humanitarian responsibility extends beyond institutions, governments, or international organizations,” remarked Ivan Arjona, representative of the Church of Scientology to the European Union, OSCE, Council of Europe, and the United Nations.

It is shown by citizens who recognize when help is needed and have the skills, discipline, and willingness to act. European values like human dignity, solidarity, and civic participation gain meaning when reflected in practical neighborhood and community service.”

Arjona emphasized that humanitarian education can bolster local resilience, enabling effective cooperation in both everyday challenges and major crises.

Linking global awareness to local action

The United Nations marks World Humanitarian Day annually on 19 August to honor humanitarian personnel and those aiding crisis-affected communities.

This observance highlights global humanitarian needs and the importance of protecting aid providers. It also recognizes volunteers and community organizations working outside the international system but aiming to alleviate hardship and uphold human dignity.

The Dublin event, occurring ten days post the UN observance, extends its themes to focus on practical community work.

Ireland has a rich tradition of voluntary engagement in social care, education, sports, culture, neighborhood development, and support for the vulnerable through local groups, charities, faith communities, and informal networks.

Such actions become vital when public services or specialized organizations need extra community assistance. Volunteers help with logistics, communications, distribution, administration, or direct care, based on their training and situational needs.

Practical tools for daily challenges

Methods from the Volunteer Ministers program are derived from The Scientology Handbook, based on L. Ron Hubbard’s works.

Its 19 study areas cover topics like communication, study, learning, family relationships, work difficulties, personal integrity, organization, goal-setting, and conflict resolution.

The Volunteer Ministers training program offers courses with step-by-step methods for everyday application.

Good intentions alone may not suffice without the necessary communication or organizational skills to improve situations. Training establishes a clear structure: understanding events, listening to those involved, prioritizing needs, and coordinating actions.

Effective communication is crucial when dealing with distressed individuals or coordinating various groups. Misunderstandings

Practical helping skills, eh? Just what we need—another seminar to teach us how to be decent humans while sipping on overpriced lattes. But hey, at least the Church of Scientology will be there to guide us through the art of altruism! 😂

Another day, another gathering to teach us how to “help” our neighbors—because clearly, the world was just waiting for a Scientology handbook to save the day. 🤷‍♂️

  5. Seems like Dublin’s got itself a fancy seminar on how to be a good Samaritan—because, you know, who wouldn’t want a three-hour crash course in community service? 😂 Better bring your notepad, lads! 📒

A three-hour crash course on being a decent human being? Brilliant! Just what our busy Dubliners need between pints and hurling matches. 🍻
