Sánchez Deploys Armed Forces to Ceuta Amid Migration Chaos

Social media videos revealed hundreds of migrants either breaching border gates or swimming from Morocco towards the Spanish enclave on Thursday. According to police reports to Spanish public broadcaster RTVE, at least 19 individuals died attempting to reach Spain.

The border with Spain’s other North African enclave, Melilla, was also shut down as between 300 and 400 individuals entered from Morocco on Thursday, as reported by Spanish media.

For Sánchez’s left-wing government, which has committed to legalizing numerous undocumented migrants, this situation could become a diplomatic issue. Italy’s right-wing leader Giorgia Meloni has called for a suspension of the Schengen agreement or Spain’s removal from the free-travel zone. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez announced on X that France would establish border controls with Spain starting Friday.

Spain’s Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares stated he would summon the Italian ambassador on Friday amid rising tensions.

Spain’s center-right opposition People’s Party prompted the government to restore “effective control of the border” and ensure the return “of those who have entered illegally,” in a statement posted on X.

Manfred Weber, head of the center-right European People’s Party group in the European Parliament, urged Sánchez to “act swiftly and firmly to protect our common external borders” via social media.

Far-right European politicians warned against Ceuta becoming another 2015 migration scenario. Germany’s far-right leader Alice Weidel stated, “Borders must now be closed and rejections strictly enforced. 2015 must not repeat itself!” while French counterpart Marine Le Pen added: “France must promptly strengthen border controls.”

Seems like Sánchez has finally found a way to make the military the latest trend in border control—who needs fashion week when you have armed forces in Ceuta? 🇪🇸💼

Looks like Sánchez is opting for a military parade instead of a diplomatic soirée in Ceuta. Who knew border control could turn into a game of “Musical Chairs” with a side of tragedy? 🤷‍♂️💼

  3. Seems like Sánchez is really getting into the spirit of ‘show and tell’ with the armed forces, just what every good migration crisis needs, right? 🤦‍♂️ Let’s hope the border patrol is more effective than aSpanish siesta! 🍷

Only in Europe would deploying the army to manage a border crisis be seen as a “progressive” strategy. Bravo, Sánchez, nothing says “we’ve got this” quite like a military parade at the gates! 😂

Funny how the solution to chaos is to throw a few soldiers at it, like putting a band-aid on a sinking ship. Just what we needed, a military parade at the border while Europe figures out if it’s a club or a lifeboat! 😂

Just what we needed, a military presence to handle a situation that could’ve been sorted with a decent cuppa and a chat. 🇪🇸💼 Honestly, do we really need to flex muscles when a little diplomacy and a dash of humanity might do the trick? 🥴

Looks like Sánchez is playing a real-life game of “Who Wants to Be a Border Control Officer?” while the rest of Europe watches with popcorn. 🍿 Maybe next time, he could hand out free surfboards at the coastline as a welcome gift! 😏

European Budget Votes Now Influence Ukraine’s War, Not Battlefields

Volodymyr Zelensky’s decision to dismiss Ukraine’s commander-in-chief on 21 July quickly became more than a military reshuffle. Outside government buildings, demonstrators had already made clear who they wanted to take over. Within days, General Oleksandr Syrskyi was replaced by 43-year-old General Mykhailo Drapatyi, the officer many protesters viewed as the right choice to lead Ukraine’s armed

Iran’s Greatest Vulnerability Is Not on the Battlefield

For decades, Washington has viewed Iran primarily through centrifuges, missiles, proxy forces, and military deterrence. Those threats are real. But this framework obscures the Islamic Republic’s deepest vulnerability: its broken relationship with Iranian society. If U.S. policy is meant to reduce the danger posed by Tehran rather than merely destroy selected facilities, it must begin with the pe
