The EU-funded project combining breaking and mental health coaching will continue in 2026 with the mission to support young people’s well-being.

L’AQUILA, ITALY, April 28, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — In today’s era where young Europeans are challenged by social media pressures and post-pandemic isolation, the EU-funded initiative Breaking The Walls emerges as a significant effort. This project integrates mental health coaching with breaking (a hip hop dance) across four locations in Italy, Portugal, and Slovakia to improve young people’s mental and physical health.

Launched in December, the 2026 phase began with a major event in Alba, Italy, and will continue in L’Aquila, Italy, during the world breaking competition Check The Style (21–24 May 2026). Young participants will attend workshops led by international breakers and a Dance Movement Therapy expert, marking the end of a year-long journey.

“Breaking The Walls aims to promote self-discovery and self-improvement among young people, and to build mental resilience and positive relationship skills, especially vital as Gen Z navigates the online-offline disconnect,” states Enrico Signa, the project’s founder. “We combine Dance Movement Therapy with breaking and mental coaching for holistic development.”

Scheduled across Italy, Portugal, and Slovakia, the project aims to provide Gen Z with opportunities to build mental strength and emotional awareness, while encouraging international cultural exchanges.

“Our L’Aquila event will host prominent hip hop figures like Phil Wizard and B-girl Ami, fresh from the Paris Olympics 2024, indicating the event’s growing global recognition,” says Jacopo Scotty, Check The Style’s organizer. “L’Aquila will become a hub of hip hop culture during its tenure as Italian Capital of Culture 2026.”

Check The Style, an event with over 20 years of history, has become globally acknowledged, attracting young athletes and exemplifying urban culture’s unifying power. This is the second of four major European events planned for 2026 under the Breaking The Walls project, which is EU-funded to enhance Gen Z’s mental and physical health, aiming to reach over 500,000 young Europeans by fostering self-expression, resilience, and cross-cultural connections.

Is it just me, or does mixing dance with mental health sound like the perfect excuse to skip out on actual therapy? 🤔 Just what we need, more “holistic development” while trying to bust a move! 🕺💃

Oh, nothing says “world-class event” quite like a hip hop dance party paired with mental health coaching in the charming streets of L’Aquila. Who knew breaking could also mend broken spirits? 😏🕺

Sounds like a brilliant plan! Nothing says ‘mental health’ like dancing in a workshop while trying to remember your steps and forgetting your worries at the same time. 😂💃

Looks like L’Aquila’s about to become the hip hop capital of Europe—because nothing says “mental wellness” quite like breakdancing in a post-earthquake town. 🤷‍♂️ Just what the Gen Z doctor ordered, innit?

Looks like L’Aquila is about to become the world’s epicenter of hip hop therapy—because nothing says “mental health” like busting a move in a competition while the EU foots the bill! 🎉🕺

Oh, fabulous! Because nothing says “mental resilience” like a dance-off in a city still recovering from an earthquake. 🌍💃 Let’s just hope the walls stay up this time!

So, we’re breaking walls and promoting mental health with hip hop in L’Aquila? Who knew the secret to emotional resilience was busting a move – next thing you know, they’ll be offering therapy sessions on the dance floor! 💃🕺

Just what we needed—an EU-funded breakdancing therapy session in L’Aquila! Because nothing says mental health support like busting a move while contemplating the existential dread of social media. 😂🕺

So, we’re merging hip hop with mental health now? Brilliant! Just what the world needed—dancing therapy sessions in L’Aquila, where the only thing more broken than the walls is my faith in this trend. 😂

Oh, brilliant! Nothing screams “youth empowerment” like mixing dance-offs with mental health workshops in a town that still wonders what Wi-Fi is. Can’t wait for the post-event therapy sessions! 😂💃

Oh great, because nothing screams “mental health” like a bunch of Gen Z kids trying to breakdance in the middle of a cultural revival! 🙄💃

So let me get this straight, we’re funding a dance-off in L’Aquila to save Gen Z’s mental health? 🤔 Because nothing says “self-discovery” like breakdancing under the Italian sun. Bravo! 😅
