Pope Leo Urges World Leaders to ‘Choose Peace’ in First Easter Address

Leo refrained from naming any world leaders directly, though his comments seemed to critique several.

He expressed sadness over the rise of what he termed the globalization of indifference, echoing some of the last words of his predecessor, Pope Francis, who passed away nearly a year ago.

“We are becoming accustomed to violence, accepting it, and growing indifferent,” Leo stated. “Indifferent to the deaths of countless people. Indifferent to the hatred and division that conflicts bring. Indifferent to the economic and social impacts they cause, which affect us all.”

He urged his followers to find inspiration in the story of Easter, when Christians celebrate their belief that Jesus was resurrected after being brutally killed days earlier.

“The cross of Christ always reminds us of the suffering and pain that accompany death and its agony,” Leo said. “We all fear death, and out of fear, we look away, choosing not to see. We must not continue to be indifferent!”

Oh brilliant, another call for peace from a guy in a fancy robe while the rest of us are stuck in the trenches of reality. Maybe next time, he can send a postcard to the world leaders—might get their attention faster! 😏✌️

Oh great, another reminder from the Vatican that we should maybe, just maybe, try not to be complete numpties about peace. Who knew the secret to global harmony was just a gentle nudge from the Pope? 🙄✌️

Choosing peace, eh? Sounds like a lovely idea for a Sunday brunch, but good luck getting the leaders with actual power to join in—after all, they seem to prefer a different menu of chaos. 🍷

Choosing peace, eh? Sounds like a fab idea—if only the world leaders could find it between their morning coffees and golf games! ☕️⛳️

  5. Blimey, looks like the Pope’s had his morning espresso and decided to give world leaders a gentle nudge—who knew indifference was the latest fashion? 🤷‍♂️ Maybe they’ll take a break from their busy schedules of ignoring reality to actually choose peace… but no pressure, right? 😏

Oh brilliant, a Pope telling leaders to “choose peace” like it’s a menu option at a fancy restaurant—how original! 😏 Just what we needed, more gentle nudges while the world’s on fire!

Looks like the Pope’s got quite the task on his hands—telling world leaders to ‘choose peace’ is like asking a cat to fetch, innit? 🤷‍♂️ Good luck with that, Leo!
