The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endeavors to follow the Savior’s teaching of loving God and neighbor, engaging in a worldwide ministry to bless all of God’s children.
The “Caring for Those in Need 2025 Report” outlines the Church’s dedication to welfare, self-reliance, humanitarian aid, emergency relief, and volunteer service, with a total expenditure of US$1.58 billion. The Church extended assistance to 196 countries and territories, illustrating its global presence, and implemented 3,514 humanitarian projects worldwide. Church members volunteered 7.4 million hours at Church Welfare and Self-reliance facilities, in service missions, and in community service initiatives, reflecting their commitment to caring for God’s children.
“We are guided by [Jesus Christ’s] example,” the First Presidency stated in the report. “As The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we aim to follow Him by ministering to the sick, feeding the hungry, and comforting the afflicted. Our ministry brings great joy to all of God’s children.”
In 2025, Latter-day Saints and Church friends engaged in substantial community-focused service. JustServe grew by 114,639 new users and 38,597 new projects, surpassing 1 million registered users.

Caring efforts also progressed through 13,789 welfare and self-reliance missionaries and over 8.2 million Relief Society sisters worldwide, who strengthened individuals, families, and communities in quiet yet impactful ways.
“While the Church works globally, much meaningful service occurs within our communities,” said Bishop W. Christopher Waddell, the Church’s Presiding Bishop. “It is inspiring to see members and Church friends engaging in straightforward daily service acts, striving to serve others as Christ would.”
The report highlights programs fostering long-term stability: 638 educational projects, job training for 10,653 Deseret Industries associates, 2,412 weekly addiction recovery meetings, and participation by more than 142,000 people in self-reliance groups.
To combat food insecurity, the Church’s 121 bishops’ storehouses in six countries donated over 37 million pounds of food, equivalent to approximately 31 million meals, to humanitarian organizations and food banks supporting those in need.

Isn’t it just charming how a little ol’ church can whip up 1.58 billion bucks to save the world? Makes me wonder if my coffee shop could pull off a similar miracle with just a few extra lattes and a sprinkle of divine intervention. ☕😅

Must be nice to spend $1.58 billion on global relief while the rest of us are just trying to keep our coffee cups full. With that kind of cash, I might just start a “Help the Politicians” fund! 😂

Blimey, who knew caring for folks could be such a global enterprise? Next, they’ll be charging admission to watch their charity work—admission fees to see generosity in action, what a brilliant way to spice up the dull ‘ol business of humanity! 😂

If only the rest of the world could muster up half as much enthusiasm for charity as the Church does for its 1.58 billion bucks—maybe then we wouldn’t have to listen to so many “how to save the world” lectures over a pint. 🍻
