Youth Empower and Fortify Communities in the Americas

In April 2026, youth and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints utilized the JustServe platform to engage in community service throughout North and South America. Here are highlights from some of the projects completed during the month:

Rancagua, Chile
On April 25, young volunteers painted 20 homes for senior citizens in Rancagua, Chile, bringing joy and support to the neighborhood. Sofía Castillo expressed her happiness in helping others and serving the Savior. This initiative was coordinated with the city and SENAMA to enhance the quality of life for elderly adults. Geraldine Quiñones from SENAMA encouraged ongoing youth participation in such essential volunteer work.

Mesa, Arizona
The interfaith “ServeFest” held at Brown Road Baptist Church on April 11 united JustServe volunteers. Pastor Alan Thompson emphasized collaboration despite differing beliefs to serve the community. Youth sorted clothes and shoes for distribution, with Abi Davis highlighting the potential impact of small gestures. The event also provided an opportunity for older congregants to contribute by hosting and facilitating the gathering.

Denver, Colorado
Approximately 1,000 youths participated in a major service event supporting America250 by completing various projects to benefit local nonprofits. Juliette Lewis noted the difference their contributions made for children in medical crises. Projects included assembling hygiene kits and cleaning a park, with volunteers exceeding expectations in turnout and effort.

Wake Forest, North Carolina
Over 175 youth volunteers engaged in diverse service activities, such as garden maintenance and supporting the Miracle League baseball game. Larry Roper acknowledged the vital role of volunteers in the community garden’s success, and Diane Ferrari praised the unifying healing power of collective service.

Los Angeles, California
On April 18, volunteers from 13 churches gathered at Iglesia Poder De Dios to address food insecurity, distributing hundreds of food boxes prepared with JustServe. Shanna Nussbaum highlighted the significant impact on over 500 families experiencing food insecurity, emphasizing the vital humanitarian efforts that unite and uplift communities.
