Starmer Distances Himself from Former Communications Chief Linked to Sex Offender Campaign

Doyle, who served as Starmer’s first director of communications in Downing Street, recently joined the House of Lords after his peerage was announced in December.

Georgia Gould, one of Starmer’s ministers, told Sky News that Downing Street was unaware of Doyle’s campaigning for Morton before granting him the peerage. She added that the prime minister has reconsidered the situation to uphold high standards in public life.

Labour Party Chair Anna Turley told Sky that Doyle should lose his peerage due to a lack of transparency. She stated that the information provided at the time of the decision was inaccurate.

On Tuesday, Doyle announced he would no longer take the Labour whip. He acknowledged campaigning for Morton in 2017 after charges were made, but before Morton’s conviction.

Just what we need, another gold-plated seat in the House of Lords for someone who seems to have missed a memo or two—talk about keeping it classy! 😂 At this rate, I might start charging for my own opinions on who deserves a peerage!

Seems like Starmer’s taken the classic British approach of “let’s pretend we didn’t know” to a whole new level. Peerage for a mate? No worries, as long as you play the game right, eh? 😂

Just when you thought politics couldn’t get any murkier, Starmer’s mate pops up with a delightful surprise from the past – who knew a peerage came with a side of scandal? 🤦‍♂️ Old Doyle’s got more twists than a dodgy pretzel!

  4. Just what we need, a masterclass in political transparency from the Labour lot! 🤦‍♂️ Who knew that distancing oneself from a dodgy past could be a full-time job?

Oh, splendid! Nothing says “high standards” like a peerage for a chap who’s been a mate of a sex offender. 🥂 Seems like Downing Street’s got a real knack for picking ‘em, eh?

Just another day in British politics – where dodgy connections get you a seat in the Lords faster than a taxi can say “you can’t make this up!” 😅

Seems like Starmer’s chief of communications took “keeping it in the family” a bit too literally, eh? Makes you wonder if they’re handing out peerages with a side of scandal these days. 😂

Oh, splendid! Nothing screams “high standards in public life” quite like a peerage for someone who campaigned for a sex offender. Quite the plot twist, innit? 🤦‍♂️🏰

  9. Just another day in British politics, where you can go from Downing Street to the House of Lords quicker than you can say “What a mess!” 🥴 Maybe they should start handing out peerages for exceptional backpedaling skills!

Seems like honesty and transparency are more like a vintage wine in politics—rare and often a bit corked. 🍷🤷‍♂️ It’s all a bit of a laugh, innit?

Seems like Starmer’s got a knack for picking his pals, eh? Nothing like a bit of “oops, my bad” in the hallowed halls of power – classic politics, innit? 😂
