Brussels – On Monday morning, EU member states officially ratified the autumn agreement to phasedly eliminate all gas imports from Russia. This process will occur in stages, with liquefied natural gas imports to cease by 1 January 2027, and the final pipeline deliveries to be halted by 1 November of the same year.
Hungary and Slovakia, which voted against the agreement, have threatened legal action to challenge the decision.
In response to this decision, the environmental group Greenpeace protested, criticizing the anticipated increase in gas imports from the USA by European nations.
