Brussels Must Put an End to the Clock Change

European Parliament (Strasbourg, France) – Transport Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas stated on Thursday, during a debate in the Strasbourg hemicycle, that it is time to end the biannual time change.

This practice of switching to winter and summer time every six months was introduced in Europe in the 1970s to conserve energy amid the oil crisis.

The European Commission first proposed its abolition in 2018 after a comprehensive consultation, which showed that 84% of participants supported the change. The European Parliament subsequently approved the measure.

Proponents of ending the time change cite its harmful effects on health and increased road accidents, and note that energy savings are minimal due to the prevalence of energy-efficient lighting.

However, the proposal has not been enacted due to disagreements among the 27 EU member states.

Mr. Tzitzikostas emphasized that this system “affects us all, irritates most of us, and even causes harm,” and pointed out that it “no longer contributes to energy savings.” (October 23, 2025)

Isn’t it just delightful how we’ve been “saving energy” for decades by playing musical chairs with the clock? One would think we’re trying to win Eurovision rather than make sense of time! 😂⏰

About time, isn’t it? I mean, who doesn’t love an extra hour of confusion twice a year? 😂 Let’s hope the EU can sort out their clocks quicker than they sort out their politics!

Looks like the EU has finally decided that biannual time travel is best left to sci-fi movies – who knew we could just stick to one time zone and still manage to be late for everything? 😂 Time to stop playing clock roulette, eh? 🕰️✌️

  4. Finally, the EU is waking up to the fact that switching clocks is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. 🕰️💤 But hey, let’s keep arguing about it for another few decades, right? 😂

Brilliant, let’s just keep shifting our clocks around like we’re in a European version of a game show, shall we? 🙄 Who needs a good night’s sleep when we can just mess with time twice a year? 🕰️

Just what we need, another debate about time—because clearly, we’ve got nothing better to do in the EU! ⏰🙄 Let’s end the clock changes so we can focus on more pressing matters, like figuring out why my espresso is always cold! ☕️

Finally, a chance to stop playing musical chairs with the clocks—who knew we needed an entire committee to figure out that changing the time twice a year is as useful as a chocolate teapot? 😏⏰

  8. So, we’re still switching the clocks like it’s the 70s? Brilliant! Can’t wait for my next ‘energy-saving’ adventure every six months. ⏰💼

If only we could change the time it takes for Brussels to make a decision—maybe we’d finally have some daylight left to enjoy! 😏🕰️

So, we’re still playing hide and seek with the clock, huh? Brilliant idea to keep the biannual time dance alive while the rest of us just want a pint without the confusion! 🍻🕰️

Finally, a proper move! Can’t wait for the day when my morning coffee isn’t dictated by some outdated clock nonsense. ⏰💼

Oh brilliant, let’s just keep switching time like it’s a pair of socks! Nothing says efficiency like a good ol’ biannual headache. ⏰🙄

Oh, brilliant, let’s finally put an end to the twice-a-year circus known as the clock change. Because nothing screams “progress” like dragging this debate out longer than a French lunch break! ⏰🥖

Another brilliant debate in Strasbourg, eh? Can’t wait for the next big issue—like deciding what shade of beige to paint the Parliament! 😏🕰️

Oh joy, just what we need—another debate about time! Can’t wait for the EU to finally agree on something as groundbreaking as whether we need to set our clocks back or not. Tick-tock, time waits for no one, except in Brussels, apparently! 😂🕰️

Of course, let’s just ignore the clock change like it’s a typical Monday morning in Brussels—who needs consistency when you can have confusion twice a year? 🤷‍♂️ #TimeIsMoney, or at least it used to be!

So, let me get this straight—after decades of tuning our clocks like bad radio stations, now we’re finally considering it might be a bit daft? Brilliant! Just what we need: more time to argue about time! ⏰🙄

Finally, a brilliant idea from the suits in Strasbourg! I guess we’ll just have to find another excuse for our perpetual lateness, eh? ⏰😂

So, Brussels is finally waking up to the fact that playing hide-and-seek with the clock is about as useful as a chocolate teapot? 🙄 Maybe now we can focus on real issues instead of this time travel nonsense! 🕰️

Guess we’ll just keep switching our clocks like it’s a game of musical chairs while the EU tries to sort out which member state gets to throw in the towel first. Brilliant strategy, really. ⏰💼
