Brussels – Kaja Kallas, head of European diplomacy, announced the summoning of the Russian ambassador following strikes that impacted EU premises, as stated on the social network X.
“No diplomatic mission should be targeted,” she emphasized after the Russian bombings resulted in 14 fatalities, including three children, according to rescuers. A spokesperson for the EU diplomatic service, Anitta Hipper, indicated that this summoning would occur during the day.
“This is the deadliest drone and missile attack against the (Ukrainian) capital since July,” lamented Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, during a press conference. “It was also an attack against our delegation,” she added, stating, “that is why we will maintain maximum pressure on Russia.”
The explosion of two missiles caused damage to the offices of the EU mission, which struck Ukrainian buildings located approximately fifty meters away, Ms. von der Leyen noted. (August 28, 2025)
