Zelenskyy tells Trump, "Ukraine Counts on America" before High-Stakes Summit

Trump mentioned in another post that he had “a wonderful talk” with Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, who is known to be close to Putin. “Our conversation was a very good one. We discussed many topics, including President Putin’s visit to Alaska.”

The high-stakes summit marks the first in-person meeting between an American president and Putin since Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022. It aims to establish the groundwork for a ceasefire. Zelenskyy and European leaders did not receive invitations to this meeting.

“The key thing is that this meeting should open up a real path toward a just peace and a substantive discussion between leaders in a trilateral format — Ukraine, the United States, and the Russian side,” Zelenskyy stated in a social media post.

The summit is set to begin at 11 a.m. local time (9 p.m. Central European Time) at a military facility in Anchorage.

During the initial part of the talks, Trump, Putin, and their translators will meet privately. Afterwards, the discussions will proceed in a president-plus-five format. The Kremlin’s delegation will include Putin, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Putin’s adviser Ushakov, and special presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev, as reported by Russian state media.

The White House announced that its delegation will consist of 16 people, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.

Oh great, just what the world needs—a cozy chat between Trump and Putin while Zelenskyy’s left out in the cold. 🤦‍♂️ Nothing says “we care about Ukraine” quite like a summit in Alaska, eh? 🥴

Oh, look at that, a high-stakes game of poker with no one invited to the table who actually knows how to play! 🎭 Let’s just hope they remember to bring back more than just a nice chat and a few empty promises, eh? 😏

Oh, brilliant! A summit where the only thing missing is a good cuppa for the rest of us—Zelenskyy and the European lot must be thrilled to watch from the sidelines like it’s a football match. ⚽️

Oh great, because what the world really needs is a cozy chit-chat between Trump and Putin while the rest of us are left outside in the cold, eh? 🤷‍♂️ Just your typical European summit, where the guest list is as exclusive as a Parisian café! 🍷
