Netanyahu Accuses Starmer of ‘Appeasing’ Hamas with Palestinian Statehood Commitment

“Appeasement towards jihadist terrorists always fails. It will fail you too. It will not happen.”

The statement came after Starmer — facing pressure from his own party and a French effort on the issue — made a conditional promise to recognize a Palestinian state before September’s United Nations General Assembly.

The British prime minister informed his Cabinet Tuesday that “now was the right time to move this position forward” due to the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza and the declining chances of a peace process.

Starmer pledged that the U.K. would recognize a Palestinian state in September unless the Israeli government took “substantive steps” to resolve the crisis in Gaza and commit to a long-term peace process that ensures a two-state solution. Starmer reiterated that Hamas must release all hostages from the deadly Oct. 7, 2023 attacks on Israel, disarm, and agree to have no role in the Gaza government.

This move marks a significant shift in British Middle East policy, following intensive lobbying by MPs in Starmer’s Labour Party.

Netanyahu has previously criticized Starmer over sanctions aimed at Israeli ministers and condemned a “shameful” decision by the U.K. last year to suspend the sale of certain arms components used by Israeli forces in Gaza.

Seems like Starmer’s playing a game of chess while Netanyahu’s still stuck on checkers. Good luck appeasing a bunch of lads who probably think a peace treaty is just a fancy way to order a pint! 🍻

Looks like Starmer’s trying to win the Nobel Prize for “Best in Appeasement” – who knew diplomacy could be so… fashionable? 😂 Maybe he should take notes from the British weather: always unpredictable and rarely delivers what you expect!

  3. Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “let’s fix the Middle East” like appeasing a bunch of jihadists with a state – I can already hear the Nobel committee dialing in! 😂 Just what we need, more diplomatic juggling while the house is on fire!

  4. Looks like Starmer’s trying to juggle chainsaws while riding a unicycle on a tightrope. Good luck with that, mate! 🎪✌️

Starmer’s got a new plan, eh? Just what we need, more diplomacy that’ll probably go as well as a British summer—lots of promise, but ultimately a washout. ☔️

Starmer’s grand plan to recognize a Palestinian state sounds about as effective as a chocolate teapot in a heatwave. 🍫☀️ Good luck with that, mate!

Starmer’s about as decisive as a British summer, isn’t he? I suppose if you squint hard enough, you might see a two-state solution on the horizon—right next to the last bus to nowhere. 🇬🇧💼

Starmer’s got his work cut out, hasn’t he? Promising a Palestinian state while juggling a political circus at home—might as well juggle flaming swords while riding a unicycle! 🇬🇧🎪

  9. Oh brilliant, so appeasement is now the magic wand for world peace—who knew? Next, we’ll just offer Hamas a complimentary tea and crumpets, and all will be well, innit? 🇬🇧☕️

Starmer’s promising to recognize a Palestinian state before the UN meeting, eh? Brilliant strategy—nothing says “let’s get serious” like negotiating with a bunch of folks who can’t even agree on the weather! 😂
