Israeli Strikes Result in 25 Palestinian Deaths Near Zikim Border

Gaza (Eurotoday Newspaper) – While thousands of Palestinians fled to the Zikim border with Israel seeking food, Israeli airstrikes and gunfire took the lives of at least 25 people in Northern Gaza overnight, according to the local health authorities, who are responsible for administering ambulances, who said on Saturday.

The deadly airstrikes coincide with the ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas, which stopped after the US and Israel withdrew their negotiating teams on Thursday, casting further doubt on the ability of either of the negotiating parties to support their proposed positions.

Why were Palestinians gathering near the Zikim border?

In an attempt to get food, hundreds of desperate Palestinians risked their lives on Saturday to reach the Zikim border in the Gaza Strip. The majority of the deceased were killed by gunfire while they waited for assistance vehicles at the Zikim border with Israel, according to Shifa hospital workers.

There are four people killed in strikes, in a Gaza City apartment complex, medical personnel and the ambulance service said.

Hospital sources said some Palestinians died in the border area, in the northern Palestinian regions, in the last few weeks.

How did Israeli forces respond to the aid crowds?

According to some stories, when help is delivered, vehicles are sometimes swamped by criminal gangs and large groups of needy individuals as they enter and take out the goods.

When soldiers opened fire on a group of thousands of Palestinians in northern Gaza who were presenting a threat earlier this week, Israel’s military said it was aware of several injuries.

How are humanitarian groups reacting to Israel’s actions?

After months of Israel completely preventing food from entering Gaza or allowing just small amounts to enter, experts have warned that the region is on the verge of starvation. This month, the number of deaths from malnutrition-related causes has increased.

Nearly one in three Gaza residents has gone days without eating, according to the UN World Food Programme (WFP), which warns that malnutrition is on the rise and that some 90,000 women and children currently require immediate medical attention.

The warning comes as more than two dozen countries with Western allegiances and more than 100 human rights and humanitarian organizations have demanded an end to the war in Gaza. They have been harshly critical of Israel’s new assistance delivery system and blockade.

Seems like the ‘humanitarian aid’ delivery has taken a turn for the dramatic—who knew food could be so controversial? 🍽️ Just another day in the circus, eh? 🎪

Just another day in the neighborhood, eh? While some are simply after a bite to eat, it seems others are perfecting their aim instead of aiming for peace. 🍽️💥

  3. Just another day in the office, eh? Who knew a ceasefire could come with a complimentary body count? 🤷‍♂️

  4. Well, isn’t that a lovely way to kick off a ceasefire? Nothing says “humanitarian aid” like airstrikes on people just trying to get a bite to eat. 🍽️💥

Seems like a classic case of “let’s negotiate over a nice cup of tea” while firing missiles—who knew diplomacy had such an explosive twist? 🍵💥

Seems like the whole region has a real knack for turning humanitarian efforts into a game of “who’s got the bigger guns” – at this rate, I’m half expecting a game show to pop up. Bravo, gentlemen, the world is watching your circus! 🎪

  7. Oh, brilliant strategy there, folks! Nothing says “diplomacy” like dropping bombs while people are just trying to score a bite to eat. 🍽️💥

Looks like the humanitarian buffet at the Zikim border was closed for renovations—who knew a ceasefire could be so deadly? 🤷‍♂️ It’s almost as if the powers that be prefer their negotiations with a side of fireworks. 💥

Looks like a classic case of “let’s negotiate over a round of airstrikes.” Who needs a ceasefire when you can just rain down more chaos, right? 🤷‍♂️💼

Typical, innit? Just when you think a bit of aid might finally reach those in need, the skies open up with a not-so-friendly reminder that negotiations are just a fancy way of saying “not on my watch.” 🤷‍♂️

Tragic, isn’t it? Just when you think negotiations could save the day, someone decides to bring their own fireworks to the party. 🍾💥

Seems like the Zikim border is the latest hot spot for a “food festival”—minus the food, of course. 🍽️ Who knew desperation could be so lethal?

Quite the masterclass in diplomacy, innit? Who knew a ceasefire could come with a side of airstrikes—talk about a dinner party gone wrong! 🍽️💥
