Tremelo’s Sonia Crabbé joins red line protest for Gaza peace

Tremelo (Eurotoday Newspaper) – In Tremelo, Sonia Crabbé and others drew red lines to protest Gaza violence. Inspired by nearby towns like Haacht, they urge peace, empathy, and action against global injustice.

As VRT News reported, in Tremelo, a municipality in the province of Flemish Brabant, Belgium, a group of residents is protesting the violence in Gaza by drawing a red line. They mentioned that this symbolic act, already seen in many Belgian cities, represents their collective outcry and solidarity. The red line has become a well-known symbol of protest.

Nearby towns like Haacht have already participated, but Tremelo has remained silent. This silence caused concern among some residents, including Sonia Crabbé. Troubled by the lack of public response, she and others decided to act. They emphasised that ignoring the suffering in Gaza, Ukraine, or anywhere else is not an option. Sonia stated that they cannot ignore the suffering in Gaza.

Why are Tremelo residents, led by Sonia Crabbé, drawing red lines for Gaza?

According to officials, the residents of Tremelo are drawing a red line to protest and encourage their local government to show support. They want their town to take a stand for peace, justice, and human dignity. They hope to inspire others and want the town council to speak out. They believe the red line should be everywhere until the world demands an end to the violence.

Sonia, a woman from Nine, is taking a stand against the war in Gaza. She has drawn a red line in front of her house. For her, the red line means that too many innocent people have died. Sonia says that even if people cannot stop the war, they should not stay silent. She believes that doing nothing is the same as accepting what is happening.

Other people in her area have also drawn red lines. Sonia hopes more people will join. She says we should think about how we would feel if our children were in danger. Then we would not just watch and do nothing. Sonia wants peace and kindness.

For Sonia, this is not only about politics. It is a call for peace, care, and human values. She says we must act with feeling and care.

“Then we wouldn’t just stand by and watch while the bombs keep falling on innocent people,”

She explains. She wants people to stop thinking that pain in other places is not their problem.
