Moscow (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated on Tuesday that Ukraine’s European allies are not seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict. Instead, they are actively supporting the continuation of military operations through various means, he said.
Major European powers, such as France and the U.K., have increased their defence budgets since U.S. President Donald Trump assumed office in January, driven by concerns that Washington might reduce its support for European security.
Peskov mentioned that there is no update yet on the upcoming round of direct talks between Russia and Ukraine, and that Moscow is awaiting Kyiv to suggest possible dates.
Is Trump’s peace push reshaping U.S.-Russia relations?
As Trump builds closer relations with Russia, the Kremlin has more frequently accused Europe of extending the Ukraine conflict, alleging that the EU and the UK hinder peace efforts.
Peskov also commended United States President Donald Trump’s attempts to initiate peace negotiations. He mentioned the possibility of removing the US from the list of “unfriendly” nations, indicating that there is “very broad potential between our countries for restarting trade and economic relations” and great demand for bilateral business schemes that could “bring great profits” to both nations.
How are EU allies accused of prolonging the conflict?
In May, Dmitry Peskov accused Europe of “militarising” itself so much that it has turned into a “war party.”
“Europe has so far gone into militarising itself and has rather turned into a war party,”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov briefed reporters in Moscow.
Peskov stated that Russia receives numerous signals from Europe daily, primarily related to Brussels and other European capitals’ plans to militarise the bloc.
Furthermore, the Kremlin criticises European nations for issuing contradictory and confrontational statements, following European leaders’ support for a US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine and their warning of “massive” sanctions if Russia does not comply.
“We hear many contradictory statements from Europe. They are generally confrontational in nature rather than aimed at trying to revive our relations. Nothing more,”
Kremlin spokesman Dmit

Typical Europe, always playing the blame game like it’s a sport. Maybe if they put as much effort into peace as they do into milking their budgets, we’d actually get somewhere, eh? 😏💸

Oh, of course, because Europe’s defense budgets are just a cheeky little hobby, not a response to anything serious. Maybe if they just took up knitting instead, we’d all be sipping tea peacefully in no time! ☕️😏

Seems like Europe’s taken a masterclass in conflict management from the Kremlin—who knew turning into a “war party” was the new trend? 🎉

Sure, Moscow’s just taking a casual stroll through Europe’s delightful blame game. Honestly, are they handing out participation trophies for that “war party” they’ve turned into? 😂
-
Typical Europe, always ready to play the blame game instead of putting down the tea and picking up a peace treaty. Maybe next they’ll claim the weather’s to blame for the snow in winter too! ☕️✨
-
Seems like Moscow’s got Europe all figured out—who knew the EU was just a bunch of wannabe warlords playing at diplomacy? 😂
-
Seems like Europe’s having a lovely time playing the blame game while forgetting their own house is on fire. 🤷♂️ It’s almost like they think peace is just a suggestion on the menu. 🍽️

Oh, look who’s pointing fingers now! Moscow’s clearly taken a page from the “How to Be a Drama Queen” handbook—maybe they should focus on their own script instead of blaming Europe for their never-ending soap opera. 🎭

Oh, bless their hearts! Blaming Europe for prolonging the Ukraine conflict is like a chef blaming the kitchen for a burnt soufflé—classic Kremlin comedy! 😂
