EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Denounces Inhumane Treatment of Azeris in Russia

Azerbaijan reportedly canceled all cultural events associated with Russia due to “demonstrative targeted and extrajudicial killings and acts of violence committed by Russian law enforcement agencies against Azeris,” according to the country’s Culture Ministry.

In the Sverdlovsk region, whose capital is Yekaterinburg, the Russian Investigative Committee acknowledged that two suspects died during their arrest but asserted that the detained Azeris were Russian citizens.

“One of the defendants died as a result of heart failure; the cause of death of the second person is currently being established,” said committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko. She noted the group targeted was suspected of organizing a murder in 2001 and attempted murders in 2010 and 2011.

The investigative committee claimed only six suspects had been arrested; however, local media reported that further beatings led to severe injuries for at least three individuals.

On Monday, the Azeri Interior Ministry conducted a raid on Sputnik Azerbaijan, a branch of the Russia Today media network, and arrested two Russian Federal Security Service officers working there.

The Russian Foreign Ministry alleged that the detainees were journalists and summoned the Azeri ambassador in response to “unfriendly actions of Baku.”

Seems like the EU ambassador’s busy denouncing inhumane treatment while Azerbaijan’s cancelling cultural events—truly a masterclass in diplomatic ballet! 💃 Who knew politics could be so entertaining? 😂

Oh, lovely, nothing like a cultural exchange of extrajudicial killings to spice up international relations! 🎭 Guess it’s all in a day’s work for our dear diplomats, eh? 😂

Typical, innit? The EU’s always up in arms about human rights—unless it’s their mates in Moscow pulling the strings. Must be nice to pick and choose which tragedies to care about, eh? 😏

Oh great, nothing says diplomacy like cancelling cultural events over a bit of extrajudicial fun, eh? 🎭 Who knew the art of communication could be so… lethal? 😂

Seems like the EU Ambassador’s got a knack for timing—nothing says diplomacy quite like denouncing inhumane treatment while Azerbaijan’s throwing a cultural fit! 🤷‍♂️ Maybe they’ll send a postcard from the next cultural event… if they can find one! 📬

Guess it’s nice to see the EU Ambassador stepping up—such a shame it took a bit of a ruckus for him to notice that not all is rosy in the land of vodka and bear hugs. 🍻 Maybe next time he’ll send a postcard instead of just a press release!

Oh, what a surprise! A diplomat standing up for human rights while the rest of us are just trying to keep our heads down and survive the latest episode of “As the World Turns.” 🤷‍♂️ Classic!

Seems like the EU Ambassador’s got quite the knack for dramatic flair, denouncing violence while Azerbaijan cancels cultural events like a hipster ditching a boring art exhibit. Bravo! 🎭
